Phil, you never cease to amaze me. What a bomb ass cover. Your drummer is a machine.

I like the look of an old fender maple neck with a lifetime of wear throughout the entire fretboard. Phil could probably do that to a neck in about a week.

Fuck Yes! That's gotta be THE best live version of "Walk This Way" I've ever heard. And from a 3-piece no less! Phil really nailed all the solos and riffs; damn near note-for-note perfect. And it was just him playing all them thar parts. And the bass tone was smooth, low, and punchy. Just the way I like it! I swear these guys play live versions of songs better than the original artists do. Phil X and the guys ROCK!

Guns N Roses were/are very underrated, they aren't the greatest band of all time but they wrote some incredible songs and Appetite is one of the greatest Rock albums of all time, Slash does tend to get overrated at times but he's still a far better guitarist than what a lot of people give him credit for and Izzy just doesn't get enough credit period
@AstralElephantFuzz9 жыл бұрын
+Conor Hill Slash gets overrated for his technical skills, but he doesn't get enough recognition for all the things he did with Izzy. Everybody's like "Yeah Sweet Child O' Mine riff and November Rain solo, woo!". People need to listen more to the left and right sides of Appetite to see what's really up. And yeah, Izzy definitely needs more credit.

+Conor Hill The tone and melody in stuff like "Estranged" really is unique. GNR must have been so refreshing back in the day!
@NoN4m31619 жыл бұрын
+Conor Hill Ppl tend to forget that every one else at the time was playing metal and wanting to be flashy like Van Halen. But Slash wanted to be original and be his own self.
@myworstenemy6809 жыл бұрын
+Conor I read several interviews where Slash went out of his way to point out Stradlin's insignificance during the recording process. He made sure Everyone knew the guitar tracks were all him lol. Didn't Stradlin write some of the songs on Appetite?
@conorhill97589 жыл бұрын
MyworstEnemy Really the whole band wrote Appetite but Izzy was crucial

The playing on "Walk This Way" was a good demonstration of Phil's mastery of 70's rock guitar and what makes it cool. And then there's that sick phrase at 17:41, which in a different video Phil says was played actually by a studio guitarist and not one of the Aerosmith guys.

Phil X-demon spawn of Sammy Hagar? I just love everything this guy does! In addition to being a damn fine player, I enjoy hearing about the history of these guitars as well. Beyond that, Phil's zest for life is pretty infectious. You can tell he's just one of those guys you'd really like to hang out with, and who won't ever need to say on his death bed that he wished he had done more. Life will not cheat Phil X out of anything!

GNR is not underrated, sorry. Ozzy Osbourne once said that the most terrible thing that happened to rock n roll was the end of GNR. Slash is not overrated. He is a genius on guitar and the solos and riffs he made are so unique and unforgetable.

Its a Shame One has to Pay That Much for a Good Gibson Guitar. Most Gibson's right off the show room floor are rough and Always need Fret work and a Good Set up. After Paying $3,000 that is Just Fucking Crazy. Rock on with Your Bad Self Phil. Love you Bro.
Delicious playing and tones; the Drills are one of my favourite bands, and you guys just crush the covers you pick! Phil, do you still use a Bad Monkey for a lot of your lead boosts these days - and are there any other pedals that have really earned a place on your board? I don't use very many pedals myself, and I've been really trying to squeeze more dynamics and badassery out of my hands and guitar controls only thanks in large part to you. Keep up the great work!
