I confess I had no idea about this album. What I like in the comments on KZbin, in general, is that I get a piece of hope that things are not so shitty as they look (politics etc) and there are quite a few people who (still) appreciate good music.

I love seeing all these comments. If I ask 100 people around me if they have ever heard the album Freudiana I probably would not find one. I thought for a while maybe I am the only one ....lol Yet there is over 400 people here that enjoy this album as much as do and took the time to comment,...So glad that this album is so appreciated.

This was the first Alan Parsons album I heard 10 years ago. Got into their other stuff shortly after. As a Dream Theater, Genesis, Porcupine Tree, Marillion, Opeth fan, I am disappointed I didn't listen to them sooner. This, to me though, is the masterpiece. Reminds me of ELO, The Beatles, Genesis and Jethro Tull.

Freudiana Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson I was alone in my room Feeling sorry for myself, Call me a prohet of doom I could think of nothing else. I found a Freudian book Gathering dust upon my shelf I thought I'll give it a look Would it hurt or would it help Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? Freudiana, do you want to change the world? I met the Wolfman and the Ratman Anna O. and Little Hans, They were walking on a tightrope I never thought they had a chance. And then a hand reached out to hold them Just before they tumbled down, But I was standing in a quicksand And I could not feel the ground Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? Freudiana, do you want to change the world? I look back and I try to find The part of me that I don't know I won't stop 'til I see the truth There's such a long way to go I saw a picture of a stranger But I didn't understand He had a ring around his finger And something burning in his hand. And I wanted him to teach me And I needed to believe But the shadows that he through me Were intended to decieve. Freudiana, do you want to be somebody? (Freudiana) Freudiana, do you want to change the world? (Freudiana)

Woolfson was the driving force in APP, no doubt, apart from displaying an exceptional voice, and great ability on arranging music, along those exceptional classical arrangements by Powell. Alan was only on production and promotional tasks, far from directly arranging the music. Don't let your fan believings hide this truth...RIP Eric, heaven will enjoy your music...
@progmeup
@progmeup 2 жыл бұрын
Alan wrote almost all the instrumentals (on Freudiana, he gets a co-writing credit for "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" - due to the fact that it's basically him putting two of Eric's melodies in a blender and coming up with a new track based on those), and came up with the basic ideas for a few sung tracks (Breakdown, Can't Take It With You, You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned), but not disputing that Eric was the main writer...

This was conceived and developed as a stage musical. Eric Wolfson wanted to do for this album what Lloyd Webber had done for his music. The stage version was only ever put on in Vienna, where I saw it as a young lawyer gathering evidence for a legal case that sadly enveloped the whole project and meant that the rights to the music and show could never be exploited. That's why virtually no one has ever heard of this album. All of us on the case were given copies, and I have mine somewhere.

Although guest performers are used it was still written by Eric Woolfson and produced by Alan Parsons, so to that extent it's an Alan Parsons Project. Eric wanted to turn the next APP album into a stage musical and got involved in an ill fated collaboration with a guy called Brian Brolly who had been eased out of Really Useful by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It ended in acrimonious litigation and that's why the album isn't now available anywhere. The show was actually put on in Vienna, where I saw it having been sent there as part of Eric's legal team!

tbf it was marketed as an Eric Woolfson album tho it was an APP album in all but name. It's still gorgeous and criminally neglected tho.

No need to be ashamed. This was one of APP's greatest albums, a masterpiece, but it sadly led to the breakup of the band. It's not even credited to APP, simply Freudiana. It was *supposed* to have been the 11th APP album, but that was not to be. Some of us refer to this as APP's lost album, the white album. If you search more deeply, you'll discover there's a "black" version of this album too... made up of all the same tunes but in its original German and sung by the musical's cast members. It's nearly impossible to find in-print however, but you may occasionally get lucky on eBay: ebay.com/itm//152973502026

The only thing I don't understand is why Mr. Colin Blunstone was not invited to give another great contibution to another Alan Parsons Album. In general this still is a great album. For this reason I bought it years ago on Vinyl; especially because it was also a Double album. No moment of regret I did that purchase.

The Alan Parsons Project.

in my opinion this is a very great album from Alan and Eric that together were pur dynamite. the first song i've ever heard from this album was Freudiana and from that moment, 27 years ago i cannot stop hearing from the Alan Parsons music which help me in the dark moments of my life. this album is of by far my favourite one despite the fact some songs contained in it are really underrated from the majority of the people....... thank you Alan ,thanks Eric r.i.p great vocalist and great musician......

"Freudiana" and "Let Yourself Go" are the gems of this album [tho everything is a beautiful piece in the thematic, theatrical tapestry] for me. A highly underrated album in the whole criminally underrated APP discography.

I've enjoyed this "project" since 1980. They have a beautiful organization within each album. And they write and compose in such a way that keeps u guessing even after hearing the same numbers over and over!! And the creativity is out of this world!!! Love'm!!!

I hate Sigmund Freud for many reasons that are too controversial to be discussed here but man, this album is a really good concept album. I can't tell how many thousands of hours I have spent on listening to the works of Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson, they were very formulaic but their style absolutely never gets old. This album is very different from their formulaic 80's albums, and it's fresh.

Do you know what ACIM say about Freud. ? What he did wrong is that he didn't include himself in his theories. If he had he would turn mad.

Freud owns our souls, there's no escape from das Unbewusste. He tapped into human psychology like no other, this part of his achievement is untouchable.

In fact, Freud's Oedius Complex is based on the analysis of many patients and his own autoanalysis, he totally included himself in his theories.
