I sincerely thank you for yout tips, Freya! They have been proving really great ones for improving my self conscience and control. This "mmmmaa" (a, e, i, o, u) introduced me to a region of my voice which was unknown to me so far. I am a baritone who sings in a choir as an amateur, when we were performing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana it was really hard for me to even reach G4 in "Blanziflor et Helena", but with your exercises I reached C#5 without even having the feeling that I was ripping my throat a apart. I am recommending you channel to my friends! :D

If you get the chance, listen to my songs and critique my vocal technique? soundcloud.com/apsychedelic/narcolepsy-white-ladders soundcloud.com/apsychedelic/lucid-dreams-ethereal soundcloud.com/apsychedelic/moonphase soundcloud.com/apsychedelic/carelessness keep in mind, I've developed my vocal technique a lot further than when I recorded these but the constructive criticism will still mean a lot, thanks!

Hello Freya. Thank you for all your comprehensive, clear and very useful instruction! I wondered whether you would consider doing a post on the transition from belt to head voice? I have a student who is very strong in belt, but as soon as a note goes to around high D (fourth line of treble stave), the voice jumps into head voice with, of course, a completely different timbre. This is a real problem because it severely limits her repertoire. I have tried some techniques such as "lightening" the belt, and also of course trying to introduce more of a mixed sound into the middle register so that the transition to head voice is not so abrupt. These techniques have worked with other students but not so much with this student. I feel the answer lies in the fact that this particularly student might be pushing the sound too much when she starts to sing higher in belt i.e. she "slams" large amounts of air at the larynx, and also of course that there are probably (inter-related) issues of breaths support. But I thought you might have some ideas about how to approach this. Thank you!

+Freya Casey Hello Freya. Thank you again. This is very good advice. I'm looking forward to working with some of my students with your comments in mind when the summer break (here in Australia, that is) is over and teaching resumes. With best wishes, David.

Okay so I know a theatre doing Heathers in about seven or six months from now. I am a soprano, but I can belt as well. [ not the best at belting ] Is it possible to train my voice in those six months for the Heathers audition? I'm trying to get the lead role Veronica and I know she's a belter, and I know it seems very impossible or stupid, but also the theatre that's doing it is like a family so politics tend to run. I've only done 2 shows with them, but their one big family, everyone knows each other. Is it even worth trying to train my voice for it? Thanks xx

Im classicaly trained but I would like to expand my belting voice because I really like singing musical theatre songs. I have one question, when im doing the exercises, at the higest notes my voice starts sounding very screamed and tired. what should I do? thank you

try inhaling through your nose and mouth... stomach goes "IN" hold your air and then throw out your voice using the word "LOVE" note: try to enunciate on the letter "O". you do not want to collapse your rib cage while doing the belting out. if your throat doesn't hurt, then that is correct.

Hey :) After training belting I feel tickling near my chest (my vocal cords feel alright). Is that ok, or is something wrong? Sorry for bothering :)

Freya, thank you for your videos! :-) I admire them! I have one "funny" question. I'm 13 years old and my voice gets weaker! :-( my teacher told me, that it'll get stronger as I grow up. Nevertheless I heard, that many people loose their voice! :-( Therefore my belting is terrible. are there any exercises to help your voice to overcome mutation? :-)

Lasha Mikeladze P.S I'm male singer. the highest note in my vocal range was F5(belted) , but now I can hit A4(chest voice) !!! I'm very disappointed. :-(however, now I can hit G2(chest voice) and C6(head voice). This is the only advantage of it!
