OMG are the Frictions still rocking in Gapo? I cant count the times I have heard them play and sing and for those of you who have not had the privilege you missed out!! They not only played and sang like the original artists they put on a show for you to watch most especially i loved their Frankenstein show. They were undoubtedly the BEST rock band in OC!

As of now I haven't heard from them, probably due to pandemic. Someone told me that they sometimes played at "Willies" (former Cork Room Attic or Cellar)

Take me back during my younger years in the 80's...napapanood ko yan sila sa Genesis Bar sa Olongapo at ang most requested song nila at that time ay yung sikat na kanta ng Black Sabbath "CHANGES".

My favorite band since l heard them in the 90s at Hotline in Singapore. Best performance for Led Zeppelin numbers & many 70s rocks song which my favorite was inside looking out by Grand Funk Railroad.

Loves this band growing up in my home city of Olongapo and hang around in SIERRA CLUB during my High School days with batch mates and BATANG GAPO friends. Last performance in person I saw them when my ship tied up at NAVSTA SUBIC BAY in 1984-87 onboard USS ACADIA (AD-42) THIS PERFORMANCE is Awesome just like in the 70'S- 80's. The Drummer Benny Quintana, Bass guitar Andrew Galang, and lead Guitarist ABE still performing and love them.

What a coincidence I check in on board USS ACADIA during Dessert Shield and Storm. I'm local Gapo Boys. Our Apt. located at Bacon St. and most of the bamd of Siera Club, L Club(Fredie Aguilar was not famous yet), Florida(Soul Jugglers) and of course Genisis Club where Friction Band became famous and most of them hang out on our sari sari store during breaks and lista mga utang nila sa mga beer at pulutan. MORE POWER FRICTION BAND! LONG LIVE ACOL!

Listened to them at Sampaguita Club Subic Bay 1972-73 while stationed there. First time I heard them I thought it was the juke box. They were great!

OMG I'm just 7yr old that time but have photographic memories of Olongapo City, I was born and raised there. "Yug Yug" "The Cave" "Papillon Club" and of course the "Genesis Club" where they become famous and some other clubs there.

I saw enjoyed and partied with this band in Subic early 70s. Someone gave them a recording of Frankenstein by Edgar Winter. They listened to it twice and played it that night better than the original. They pretended the guitars were lasers and were shooting at us as we tried to gain access to the stage. We dragged our “dead” up there. What a blast! ☮️🎸🎶

The best for me is The Sword and Scepter band. I know they were brothers. They changed their name to Caluscos/kaluskos after or before they won The San Miguel beer battle of the bands. The soothing voice of Mr.Ganie Caluscos is awesome! They were the only bands that can play Black Sabbath and other heavy metal, blues-rock. Only I think they are underrated bcus they separated ways in the 80s. They were disbanded. Friction is overrated i think. The Sword and Scepter is the best. Friction can play what other bands can while The Sword and Scepter was the only band who played difficult songs that none in Olongapo or in manila can play. My respect and admiration really goes to them. I wish I had a video of them. I am here and checking youtube to see them. Only them. Damn, Caluscos brothers were the real musicians. Hats off! They were even asked to play in Finland but Mr.Ganie couldn't go that time. Damn! I wonder where they are now! They are filipino legends in music!

At those times when they are getting hot on "Genesis Club" early 80's, so as the US band ACDC. He will scream on stage "AC..!" crowd will say "DC" for request. But actually at the end he will say... "ACOL" !! (crowd scream louder) love that moment as teenager be part of it.

Hello Pedro, this is Benny (Drummer)....we're not in Shanghai anymore sinced Dec.2018 back already in Philippines for good!.. Tried to put back the group together here but too bad that Abe cannot play much of his guitar anymore 'coz he got stroke last year but lucky to be still alive!?!..Only Me & Andrew are having chances to be seeing each other once in awhile, everytime that Me & my biker group of friends will have chances (b'coz of this Pandemic) to bike or ride in Zambales area and then I will passby to his place in Castillejos to have chat with him before going back again to Olongapo City, to where I'm staying & living now...
