i really like how you freeze the machines and then play along whats there. its obvious that Clouds delivers for this (thanks to its dedicated freeze button), but you did similar things in other videos too and i really like this approach! its such a really nice way to make so much out of just so little. dont fear youre out-of-date Nick! you were voted the top-most influencer of MusicRadars Poll in 2017 for a reason. you entertain us, you educate us - and you show your skills in music technology pretty much everytime you put your fingers on any machine that you have on the table. and lets not forget: you explain stuff in a way that we all can follow along - novice and professional alike! not everyone can do this. be proud of your talent and your skills! you are an established person here on KZbin. never forget this ;-)

Don't you need a pedal/guitar or instrument module to change the audio signal coming out of the minilogue before you patch it to clouds? To change the signal to a suitable eurorack signal?

I recently got my hands on a DIY mutable clouds with parasites installed and tried plugging my korg minilogue into it like on this video but didn’t have the same results. It seems there is not enough gain coming from the minilogue to be loud enough for clouds plus I am guessing the output also needs to be at a correct level to make it usable. How did you have this hooked up? I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this as I really enjoyed the sounds you made with this setup and I would love to know how to set it up myself to get these incredible ambient sounds. You mentioned that the minilogue is going directly into the clouds and out of the clouds into the mix. Is there any other modules involved behind the scenes or adaptors to get the line levels from the minilogue to work?

Hi Nick, love your work. How current need beats to be?
@ikkini6 жыл бұрын
Well it sounds good as always, but imho using Clouds without any modulation source is pointless. You could have done the same with an Eventide pedal. Add a single LFO and a random source and you'll start to hear why Clouds is such a piece of great gear ! ;)
@HiGlowie5 жыл бұрын
ikkini what is your take on the Clouds plug-in?
@Matthewsavant6 жыл бұрын
I bet you can get very similar results with some creative programming in the Octatrack, like micro sampling Rec/playback, tempo synced LFO etc to create and play back “grains” In a way.....I’m going to go try that right now 🤔

This was awesome! I have an MS-20 Mini, but this synth seems to have way more creative potential and possibilities for my taste as a musician. I've got to get me a Minilogue!
@lostboy58616 жыл бұрын
Yea it just honestly depends on the artist i love my ms 20 and would never trade it do to all the patch points that only started making sense to me 2 years later once i got into eurorack. So my opinion is if you know your going to get into eurorack keep the ms20 it goes very well with euro and i use it all the time with my clouds module, but if you really just want to play chords i say trade the ms 20 on craigslist for the minilouge they come up all the time !!!

I just bought a second hand microclouds clone (because I watched this video hehe), and when I connect my minilogue the same way as in the video all I get is electric ground noise. When I connect my roland tb-3 there is no problem. I am using a 6,3 mm unbalanced jack connector (0,5 m long) plus a 6,3mm to 3,5mm jack adapter (also unbalanced). ¿What can I do to get rid of that noise? ¿different cable and no adaptor at all? ¿Or something else more tricky? BIG THANKS!!

MI CLouds can do so much more, you need to make more jams with it, maybe use CV and gate- outs from minibrute 2 or Neutron to modulate Clouds in many ways, and use that attenuator between those connections! Would really love to hear another jam with clouds! cheers mate, keep up the good work! PS Where's sonic talk this week?
