I love how in the new version the instrumental changes so much throughout the song - most of it it's extremely intense but after the beat drop the music changes, the drums reduce and so does the guitar and it gives you a sense of victory.

I like the way girlfriend shudders with the tempo instead of just vibrating. The quality of playing the track itself is so drastically improved it's not even funny. I like the way the chart makes good use of doubles now as well. I don't like any of the other changes though. The pulsating screen does not work anywhere near as well as it does in other mods because of the close-up framing of the characters, it makes my head hurt. Whitty and Boyfriend have some effect on their voices that makes it sound like you're watching this battle unfold from the opposite end of an abandoned subway tube. The removal of the red tint around the screen's edge makes it feel like the whole screen has been coated in blueberry juice (although that criticism is only valid when you compare the two). The old instrumental was laid back and accentuated the strong beats in the vocals, it was perfectly believable that it was coming from Whitty. It showed restraint that the new instrumental doesn't. The new one is so cluttered you can hardly hear the sound effects and it gets louder than the vocals at certain points. And finally, radically recharting a song like this **without** reworking the sprites is a recipe for disaster and a fine line to walk because charting directly affects the animation. Replacing jacks with note swaps removes almost all of the strength and most of the life from Whitty's movements. Whitty is 8'11", he shouldn't be able to throw himself around like a rubber chicken.

do i like the new chart? it’ll take some getting used to, me right now says no but i’ll warm up to it. do i like the new music? no. just straight up. they treat the “chorus” as a spaced-out break from the big parts (those are actually very good) but the whole point of this song to me is that you don’t get a break. you finish the explosion at the end? you get a solo that lasts forever. it takes forever to build up, and to me, if you need to have heard a song originally to understand the remix, it’s not very good. when the song starts (originally), it’s dead silent, until you realize what you gotten yourself into and the beat immediately picks up. now it takes forever to get to the point, and the chorus at the end, for WHATEVER REASON, is more amped up than the long-ass solo that came right before????? that was your reward??? more stress??? when you beat that solo, the hard part is over, it’s the home stretch. why is it so much more intense than the entire rest of the song (save for the “explosion” i called it earlier). does anyone care? no. did anyone read this? probably not. did i need to get this off my chest. also probably not. but it feels good, ok?
