In Norway, we never _historically_ have had anything but white lutheran people (except for a tiny minority from 1845 free churches, like methodist, baptist, was allowed to practice their faith). To look at the history of racial issues in the United States is rather absurd and interesting to me. Personally, I’ve always been chosing Crouch, Winans, Hawkins, Franklin, Lawrence and the black gospel style over CCM all my life (i dare say i’ve been part of a minority). UPC is one of the few large denominations that seemed to be truly integrated. Was it from the very beginning? Was it because the scolding from the huge «orthodox trinitarian» majority, that they needed to lay aside the divides? I can see that many other churches are not entirely white, or entirely black, but UPC has to be the most integrated? Any views? Any books or articles on this?
