Hi Boda, Do you know what the population of Jamaica is (number wise) and is there any estimation as to how many scammers there are presently ? And is the scammer population growing or receding ? Is the scam baiting community having any effect on the numbers of present working scammers, or is this information kept private ? If the number of scammers are growing it may give them a false sense of bravado that they are untouchable ?! But what we do know for certain is that the SB'ing community is saving so many potential victims, which must be very rewarding for you and your fellow "workers" 🙂 You are all doing a fantastic service for your (mainly) elderly community. And this is the generation that so deservedly need protecting as much as possible - part of the generations that fought for the freedoms we hold and have today. Are any "Public Service" adverts run on TV or in the Press regarding scams and what to look out for, or any "workshops" for people teaching how to spot these scams, as many are pretty sophisticated and it is easy to see why people get suckered in by them 😞 I am from the UK and have never seen such ad's. I have seen a few articles in the press, but noting that major. Regarding India and Jamaica I believe help in fighting these scammers has to come from within the countries themselves to have a greater impact, but they seem very reluctant to tackle this issue. The US are the suppliers of the largest amount of Foreign Aid per year to India and the Indian Gvmnt seem quite happy to let their citizens get away with defrauding the people of the country that helps them the most - biting the hand that feeds them 😞 I know this is simplistic but India needs hitting where it hurts the most if they do not help - from within the pocket! The same for Jamaica too. Also the scammers of today, if NOT penalised harshly, may be the "First Generation" of a scammer wave, as many of these immoral dirtbags will have no compunction in dragging up their children in their own footsteps 😞 It is such a shame as many of the scumbags may and will be qualified in technical areas but swayed by what they think is quick and easy money !! And it is NOT that there are NO jobs in India. My husbands business had two vacancies for highly skilled technology work that they have found after months of searching in the UK, impossible to find anyone skilled enough to employ. They have now found and employed two people from India who work remotely and my husband feels very grateful that they have found them 🙂 And my husbands business will not be they only one in this situation as there is a great shortage of skilled technology staff here. Many firms are also willing to help towards sponsoring or visa costs too and the pay is far higher than the average UK wage, so compared to a salary in India, must be an amount that the average scammer, who only see's a small percentage of what he steals, will earn. If skilled it is an easy choice to make. I don't know if the States has the same problem with a lack of skilled workers, but I do notice so many scammers dream is to move to The US and if they are caught scamming they can say goodbye to this. I also wonder if the hatred shown or spoken of about the US victims is partly due to envy for you live in a country of opportunities which many scammers want (and feel somehow they are owed). Sorry for all the questions and the long post. I am generally too nosy ;-) Thank you for all your great work. Love from the UK x
