On what planet did she " definitely outplay Mike"? Mike missed 1 question in the entire match and she missed 2. Round 2 she clearly got the category she put on the wheel (or at least something she has studied) and Mike clearly didn't. Even with luck on her side she lost. Her saying "the last action hero" is a tough way to lose, but it's a title she should have known. Pressure may have gotten to her and made her 2nd guess the title.

@@ajl9772 i take nothing away from Mike and i agree overall he answered more questions correct and also did better in round 1. its just that IMHO Paige is the better player. the way she owned those 3 and 5 pointers and ran her wheel category showed it. her inexperience cost her her 2-pointer. admittedly anyone can spin a bad category but the really good players have no bad category. that is where i think Mike might falter in general movie trivia.

@@justingoh3622 That inexperience is exactly why I think Mike is a better player. Very little is known about Paige's knowledge as well. She very well could have big holes in her game. You're making assumptions about her based on a very small sample size. For a long time Erwin seemed unstoppable and then we saw his knowledge in animated family films. Everyone has a bad category especially with all the new categories people haven't been able to study. I think it's very possible there are slices Samm and Marisol would do very poorly in.

Ehhh... that ruling was a little iffy. I know it IS in the rule book and all, but... I think it should have been awarded to her. There is no movie called "THE last action hero" , and adding "THE" in front of the title really does not alter the meaning of the answer. I think you should consider this precedent for the next version of the rule book.

It for sure alters the answer. Adding THE implies that the last action hero of the title is singular and definitive. Taking it away gives it less emphasis he is simply just last action hero, it underplays the phrase and therefore I would argue sets up the comedy and meta-film stuff that’s in the movie.

Suggestion: the tv between the competitors has the MTS logo, but so does the stand where the tv is on. So, its two of the same logos. No real point to the tv. As such, I would suggest using the tv for, maybe, identifying what the match is (singles, championship, innergeekdom, etc.). Something like that.

For the record, I think the ruling was fair - it's in the rulebook and it's happened before. It's a tough break for Paige, but she'll learn from it and study even harder to make sure she says the right answer. People give some players crap for using all of their repeats when they "know" the answer, but sometimes they're doing that to make sure they have the exact title right since they know that is part of the game.

Only Top Gun of those would be grammatically correct with "The", "The Last Action Hero" is grammatically correct. "The" is used as an article to denote that a noun is particular or specific. "The Last Action Hero" is actually more grammatically proper than "Last Action Hero", since "The Last Action Hero" is someone specific and particular. Therefore it is something where your brain may correct it in your head. That is not the case with Point Break or especially Saving Private Ryan.

THE thing is... PLD said in the chat that you can leave out "The" (but not add it) for a movie title. So the takeaway is that when you don't know whether a movie is called "The Raid" or just "Raid", in the future, just always say "Raid". And you'll be fine in BOTH CASES. This game has always been about making the most of your options by "bending" the rules a little. This is just the latest example and it will help separate those that are putting in the extra work from those that are "only" there with a decent level of trivia knowledge.

Its all subjective I knew Paiges 2 before the question was finished and had no idea what her 5 was... the only question I have outright believed was a bullshit 5 was Marisols vs Samm. It asked the sub title to a Halloween movie while giving the main actor in the movie in the question so you know right away which movie it is and the plot line. Then to add to that theres only 12 movies in the franchise and only 4 have subtitles and you know it isnt the 3rd which doesnt have Michael Myers so its a 33% chance to just outright guess the movie. But it being the most popular horror franchise on the planet saying name the Halloween movie that stars paul rudd is a round 1 question. That's probably the only time in the history of the game I was beyond angry at the 5 for it being easy.

I think it was a huge miss for Riley (or Jacobi) to not call foul & CHALLENGE the opponents 5-pointer! Regardless of whether he meant to or not, Winston's reaction to the question was a very clear hint towards the correct answer. At the very least his reaction influenced her & her answer therefore a replacement question should have been given. Of course it's very possible that she would've said 'The One' either way, however, it's impossible to know for sure. I think we can all agree that there should be measures in place to prevent audiences, especially managers, from influencing the competitors. If the managers are unable to refrain from such behavior they should be required to remain backstage until they are needed. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to set up a screen backstage somewhere for them to watch & monitor the match. I will say, the way she reacted to the question and then to Winston's reaction led me to believe that there was something about his reaction that led her to go with that answer.

In your head you're going to think ok it could be x, y or z but he was just talking about 'The One' or I know he's a huge fan of 'The One' so that most be why. Even Michael commented on the "distraction". I would add, just watch the initial interaction between the two after the match is called. Nevermind the whole thing of him trying to cover for himself in the interview. But like I said, regardless of whether she would've still come up with that answer or not, his reaction did have some level of influence on her. That's more than enough grounds for a replacement question.

You don't know where exactly he is off camera. She could be focusing on a number of things. Even if you were to take that into consideration, it was clear that the announcers could see both managers so they'd have to be somewhere nearby so Riley would have heard that. If it was that big of a problem, he would have challenged, but again, it wasn't.

I've missed Winston and SWAG something fierce. Jacoby just makes me smile, he's like a cute excited puppy when he competes lol. First match was alright (Especially after last week's horrendous under card match) congrats to Klee. She fits in with SWAG perfectly. Singles this, singles that. Mike ain't ever getting The Singles Belt (Same for his teammate Chance) but he has nothing else to do so of course he will try to go for that until he is eventually beaten again zzz. Great main match, but man Paige was completely robbed. Mike got lucky AF with that "win," but I love watching Paige more and more. She is a legit dangerous competitor and really showed that in this match. Also loved how chill and funny she was in the studio too, not once flustered (even after that bs ruling on Last Action Hero) She will do great in Singles and I can't wait to see more of her, great job girl *claps* Also love seeing how Adam manages. God, now Bateman wants to face Mike? Enough Bateman, he just had two matches! I'm missing other competitors. Maybe he can finally beat Mike, don't care for both of them but in this case my lesser of two evils is Bateman so go Bateman I guess *shrugs* They are really trying too hard with this stuff with Roxy, this would be more intimidating if her faction didn't crash and burn last season. I also don't even know who Nick Harley is, and that's who Ethan wants to team up with? This becomes more and more of a train wreck every week, none of this crap is going anywhere so just stop lol. Ethan should of went to The Quirky Mercs and stayed teamed up with Liz, that's the best he's ever done in teams! Love Ethan, but what a dumbass decision. It's just another teammate who's weight he will have to carry, Liz could take care of herself when they were in Lightning Time together (What a huge downgrade) I don't see any of this helping him at all this season IMO. All their doing is talking sh*t too, get in the ring and back it up. I'm over it. Sounds like the team they are facing is another freebie for them next week so I won't be surprised if they win mainly cause of Ethan. So even though I didn't like how Paige was screwed over, I'm just glad this was a decent episode. MUCH better than last week. The last scene was some Twilight Zone crap (Is Shannon getting nicer? Crazy, but that's what I would prefer) but Roxy's not winning any Championships with the Cracker Jack faction she's building up so far.

I've been saying for years they are biased for Korruption and especially Mike, so this is nothing new. Paige was completely screwed over in that ridiculous decision. She easily won this match.

It's a clear rule that's in the rulebook which Ellis sited. All the competitors and managers have access to the rulebook so it's a completely fair call. If you have an issue with the rules fine, but you can't say they are being bias towards Kalinowski based off of that. A Bateman vs Frabetti rematch would have also been highly anticipated. There's no point to call a conspiracy or go on a witchunt here. Paige has shown in her past matches that she has quite a few little mistakes like this Last Action Hero miss that she could have easily have gotten if she slows down and I feel this will be a reminder for her to do that and help her grow into a better competitor.

I find the complaining about Last Action Hero funny, considering how she got one of the easiest 5 pointers i've ever seen (Mike's 5 was way harder) and also she got lucky they didn't accept Mike's answer right away with Lung Cancer/Leukemia. If that one wasnt accepted the obviously THE Last Action Hero shouldent be accepted either.

The thing is, i always had a problem with questions like this: What desease did "X Character" have (whe you aren't well versed in Medicine and dont know the difference between similar deseases). What car did "X Character" drive (when you are not a Car Expert, and they dont say the Name of the Car out loud in the Movie), What Animal was ...(whe you are not passionat in Zoology, and its a more exotic animal, or if you dont know the difference between a Mouse and a Rat, Bunny or Rabbit, etc.). In what State did this Movie happen (when you are not a geography expert or if you aren't evan from the US and don't evan know all the States (Brendan Meyer who is canadian, got screwd by this)). I've seen plenty of players get screwd by each of this types of questions, because they are not experts in this domains.
