Friday Questions: What's the best torque setting for an endodontic file?

I have researched about this issue for long time. That explains the fact that I broke files under less than 1N torque in auto-reverse mode. I think that the file quality and the operator's ability an tactile sense is more important than the torque control setting of any equipment. Thank you!

Yes! Torque control is just a guideline. I think it's a good way to train your wrist about how much pressure is too much but it's not a 100% solution for safety. True safety is a judgement call that's customized for each canal's anatomy, dentin type, and the file size/geometry. It's all about the chip space and debris management. Dear sir, I'm dr.senthil kumar from India . I'm using dentsply protaper and M2 rotary files with anthogyr with controlled speed only but in 1 in 80 cases files getting broken in apex which I couldn't retrieve . I had done around 7000 RCT'S using rotary but am still facing this problem . Now am planning to change rotary handpiece what will be your suggestion and which company rotary handpiece is better sir. Pls suggest. thank you.

if you're preparing the canal manually upto 20-25 number of manual files, you should not have this problem. breakage of protapers happens more if you havent manually prepared and cleaned the apical end and rest of the canal manually upto atleast the 20 , 25 numbe rof manual files eamers.
