I've only read the first Barsetshire, need to continue on this year for sure! What nice copies of Real & Unreal. My library has some paperbacks as well, and they make me wonder why my hardcover is so hugely massive! Not that I mind it, LeGuin can have the shelf space 😄

I didn't realise yours were hardbacks. I have now also realised there is a non-fiction one with a similar name and these are all fiction. I will one day have everything!

eBay can be such a gamble. The Mitford book has been intriguing me.
@AaronReadABook5 ай бұрын
I never really buy anything expensive so it's worth the risk generally. The Mitfords seemed to have a knack of being involved in big historical events, so I'm looking forward to it.

I like vinted for books too!! World of books is just as misleading with their condition notes 😞 As usual, I must remind myself to try Trollope! I'm really getting into Daisy Jones, it's so easy to read, but I'm also picturing all the characters from Almost Famous - I adore that film, I've seen it so many times!

You mentioned Vinted in one of your videos and that's when I started checking it for books, I already bought clothes off there but hadn't thought of books. Yep Almost Famous is an all time favourite of mine too.

Great haul. I have The Little Friend by Donna Tartt and every time I mention it everyone tells me it’s her worst book. 😅 Ahh Carrie Soto. I’m going in reverse order, so I’ve already seen your review on this one. Too bad it didn’t work.
@AaronReadABook4 ай бұрын
Yeah I hear that a lot about it, but I think she writes naturally quite well so I'm sure it can't be that bad!

Congrats on finishing the Chronicles! Always bittersweet to say goodbye to characters. I’m sure I’ll get to these series eventually. I picked up The Warden recently secondhand and will grab more if I find them in the wild. I enjoyed your thoughts on Carrie Soto. I really loved Daisy Jones, and I enjoyed Malibu Rising however I didn’t totally love it. I think I’ll probably give this one a try, but I am saving Evelyn Hugo for last as I’m hoping I will really like that one! Good to hear the audio works well for Carrie 😊

Malibu is the one I've not got to. I think Daisy is my favourite because it's basically just Stevie Nicks. The Warden is great but be prepared for some church politics haha

@@AaronReadABook Haha yeah, I’ve heard the Warden is pretty dry. 😜

I know what you mean about eBay Aaron, I got two books recently, one was an older edition than the picture showed and one was definitely not in very good’ condition. They used to be better about that. I’m with you on Last Chronicle, Mr Crawley was so frustrating and the reason I didn’t love that one, plus I think it could have been shorter; I think that’s the only one that was serialized so maybe Trollope was milking it 😉I think as a whole the Barsetshire series is closer to my heart but my favorite character in Trollope novels is in the Palliser series and there are overall some great ones although people disagree about Phineas Finn 🤔

I will have to try and guess your favourite character when I get to them! Do you have Vinted in the US?
@josmith59925 ай бұрын
No unfortunately I don’t think so.

I haven't read those Le Guin collections, they're definitely on my radar though! You've got me interested in trying Trollope sometime too. (And got me considering trying Vinted for second-hand books, I didn't realise they did books.)
@AaronReadABook5 ай бұрын
Can't go wrong with Trollope. He also wrote an absolute ton so if you end up liking him you aren't likely to run out of material.

@@AaronReadABook Good to know! Should I start with the Warden, do you reckon?
@AaronReadABook5 ай бұрын
@@genteelblackhole yes but expect some church politics that can be a bit confusing and aren't really in the later books. But it is the shortest and a nice intro

Aaron, I’m so sorry I missed this. I know what you mean about being sad the series is over. It was such a great reading experience. I definitely don’t want to read a book whose main character is like Novak! Ugh!
@AaronReadABook5 ай бұрын
At least we aren't likely to run out of Trollope books any time soon!

I love Trollope, have you read The Claverings? That is really good. I thought Carrie Soto is Back was awful. I did DNF it about 3/4ths into it.
@AaronReadABook5 ай бұрын
I've not read The Claverings, but I do own a copy so maybe I will pick up some standalones before I embark on Pallister. Yeah Carrie Soto is not going well 😂
