Those are fab trousers! I know pleated pants are very popular right now but I've never liked them on me, these are right up my alley. I like the cropped length.

Fermented foods are pretty easy, and don't take much time aside from prep and waiting. The only thing you need to know is how salty to make your brine, and that as long as everything is submerged in your brine, it's nearly foolproof. Hope you enjoy your exploration of that. I particularly like making my own sauerkraut, and really need to get a new batch started soon. I'm very new to sewing, and watching all sorts of KZbin videos right now, and I enjoyed yours. 🙂

Thanks for sharing! I’m so impressed with that trouser pattern you talked about, and the trousers you made fit you so so well! I think there is a lack of patterns that are made from real tailoring skills and that give you such accurate help with fitting. Well done for finding such a good pattern company! And enjoy your spring and summer without any pressure 🤗🌿🌸

That dress is beautiful. A shorter sleeve might be nice. You could tack an orange collar a cuffs if you want more interest, but I think the simplicity with the delicate hem looks very nice as is. The simple neckline lets the bust gathers shine.

Fabulous trousers! Enjoy the gardening & the fermenting - please share if you find success with the latter. I’ve barely sewn since Christmas due to work & decorating/ reorganising. In my head I’m now going to catch up, but in reality the outdoors vies for my attention in the summer.

I love the San Diego zoo! Jealous. One day isn't enough for that zoo. Disneyland? Go if you can. I haven't been but I'm thinking Addie June is just the right age and you may not get another chance soon. As for sewing, I'm doing the refashioners challenge and finished one out of two embroidered cats for the back pockets.

Yes I love Ruth's method, I tried it a few months ago when I made the Billy wide leg trousers. I also made a standard toile and found that was just fine, so on that occasion it wasn't for me, but I think I'll give it another go.

I have this dress pattern as well and plan to make dress out of it. Just been too unwell to sew but hopefully soon. I really like Style Arc patterns. I think their Willow pants may be my go to. I like the fit. A few tweaks need to be made but generally fit well. I certainly like your pants and if things improve I may very well give them a go. Thank you.

Enjoy the summer and don't feel bad about not vlogging as frequently. We're lucky to see what you post when you have a moment, but making the most of being outdoors in the warmer months is super important. Aroha nui from NZ.

Great trousers and I completely agreed with you about patterns. I find that I can get a toile to fit but when you change to different fabric it can fit differently anyway. In terms of sustainability I also don’t really want to use additional fabric so I rarely make one except trousers! I like the dress too.

Love the trousers Alex. I totally agree with you about the best pattern makers have had proper training. I made one of the new blouse patterns last week and although the instructions seemed quite comprehensive there was no mention of clipping curves or trimming corners, absolute essentials. When I was teaching A level needlework many many moons ago one of my mantras was ‘ it should look as neat on the inside as the outside’. Enjoy the summer, hopefully we will still get to see a little of you , you are a great inspiration. X

Beautiful trousers. I have been trying to understand the Top Down Center Out system of pants fitting. I don’t have it completely mastered, but I will say it’s incredibly fast and I got a very nice fit with my first pair of pants ( used a vintage Vogue pattern). The waist fits perfectly and the hip. I should have been more trusting of the method and kept the length in the rise. It’s a tad short, but that’s ok they are very acceptable. I’m looking for a holy grail pattern myself that I can adapt the style, I hate have to start from square one every time I try a new pattern. The inside is lovely as well. Enjoy the garden 🪴

When I made the wide leg trousers in November I did a comparison of top down, centre out and a standard toile with my usual grade up at the waist. The standard toile looked better. I still think its a good method, but on that occasion the cut was fine anyway. I think its a great idea.

My next adventuee is to do them in a denim. Have you tried the new pant pattern from maison fauve, i think you would really line them, they have a cuff at the bottom but optional but the fit is so good another dream pants to own...they are call tremplin with a beautifull turn out pocket. Thanks for this great video❤

I joined a brilliant women's gym, we do strength training as a group ie. a lot of weight lifting. My aim was to get fit as I've seen how our parents have lost a lot of mobility and I'd like to prevent that happening. What I didn't anticipate was how brilliant it is for mental health, menopause symptoms etc - I'm officially hooked and I was the ultimate exercise refuser 😂

Good luck with your summer plans. I'm not a fan of fermented food. Hey, hi from Kansas City, Missouri, USA!! OK. Here goes IMHO on the first dress --- which is great. I laughed when you rolled up the sleeves ---good show and roll it one more time -- be brave. The buttons help, and I am sure the orange shoes will be a banging success, but you NEED some more color on up the dress to give the eye somewhere to travel other than the buttons. Find a half meter of some wild fabric with orange print, do a rolled hem and make a scarf belt out of it, and go for it girl!!! Or pick a scarf you already have that is colorful and has the same color as your shoes. OK, as I said, this is my humble opinion, but this solution would bring a lot of life to this dress, and with your gorgeous hair, would give you much needed contrast that would make the whole dress sing.
