Honestly your reaction is exactly what us early 80s kids remember while watching this movie in the movie theatre or home late at night behind our parents backs. Scared crapless. Went in blind and our lil innocent minds blown!! Didnt sleep good for weeks after!! God i miss the innocence watching horror in the 80s and 90s before the internet took over. Awesome memories

This was Kevin Bacon's first movie. A lot of famous actors got their first roles in horror movies back in the 80s. Now go see A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) for another actors first movie.

@johnm.m.9800 I thought they came out the same year, so I looked on IMDB. Animal house was first, then 3 movies where his character is just background and doesn't even have a name, and then Friday the 13th. I always thought this was his big break.

I've seen plenty of people assume Jason Voorhees would be the killer in the first movie, but this is the first time I've seen someone guess it was "Stabby Joe."

Love the subtle moments of this movie so much. Like Ned clearly feeling like a third wheel as he spots Kevin Bacon and his girl frolicking along the lake, or the use of birds and owls cooing in the night. Also love the use of rain in this movie to set the mood:) people call this an 80’s movie because it technically came out in 1980, but since it takes each decade 4 years to come into its own, I’d say the fashions are very late 70’s for sure:)

Jason 's mom...*that older lady- was a big movie star during the 50s. In real life. She was very beautiful...in her hey day. She made a descision not to return in the role of Jason 's mom So she was killed off on first sequel of Friday the 13 th She was already middle aged in. 1980 But she did well with this role as Jason's mom

I love your reaction until you said it was a low budget movie lmao. For the first 2 I watched in the theaters and the 3rd I went to the last Drive-In Movie and I made 40 dollars off of my cousins. For they betted me that the 3rd movie was the last of Jason and Friday the 13th. Needless to say I won. But at what cost lol. For each movie afterwards got more stupid lol. But still ended up watching them, as well as Holloween's, Nightmare On Elm St, and of course Texas Chainsaw Massacare. But the scariest movies are the ones that make you jump all the way through it.
