If it wasn't for studio cuts, this would had been the greatest Jason movie ever. Since in the original script Jason goes on a massive killing from Madison Square Garden, The Brooklyn Bridge, a Broadway show, A Fifth Avenue store and a last showdown on top of the Statue of Liberty! Really a missed opportunity to have a Slasher set in a crowded city out in the open and causing chaos unlike past movies where it's just isolated woods and no public awareness. For those wanting to see this premise done better I recommend checking out the comic "Maniac of New York" where it's basically a expy of Undead Jason going on a killing spree in NY slaughtering massive crowds.

The studio sliced the budget to almost nothing which only allowed the film makers to film in New York for a very short time. Even if they just got exterior shots of locations then filmed the actual scenes on a set or a different location, they could have made it look like the film was happening in NYC. They just didn't have the time to make those adjustments. If Friday the 13th ever gets a comeback series of films, I would love to see them attempt something like this again. Doesn't even need to be NYC. Jason wreaking havoc in any major city would be cool.

The F13th franchise is just pure, guilt free fun. Jason doesn’t speak and doesn’t need to. The characters have just enough flaws so you don’t feel conflicted about seeing them get dispatched. And, when the violence occurs, it’s almost always darkly comedic. With the exception of the first two movies and the 2009 entry, the series sticks to that formula and it works. Freddy? Michael Myers? Leather Face? Chucky? I’ll take Vorhees for $1500, Alex.

@@BareBandSubscription yeah, it’s something common in horror movies where if a black character isn’t killed early on, the script will require them to (as the name implies), sacrifice themselves in an attempt to slow the villain down or try to stop them for the rest of the cast (usually unsuccessful). While this is prevalent with black characters it can be used fir other minorities as well.

Here’s something I just learned, the actress that played by Kelly Hu played Lady Deathstrike in the X-men films. Which is kinda weird because the actress is bit of a badass in other movies.

In the Friday the 13th video game, they gave the player who controlled Jason a literal teleport power. You disappeared and could zoom around at super speed, then reappear wherever you wanted. The only catch was it couldn't be where someone was directly looking at. So you popped up out of nowhere when someone's back was turned, or popped out from behind walls or trees. Recreated the "teleport" of the movies perfectly, where you wonder how such a slow lumbering monster kept getting ahead of people who could run faster.

You just made my day with this one. This, Jason X and Part V, with Miguel Nunez, are my favorite in the series. They are just fun. With this one, I love the opening/ closing song. It's something that has stuck with me since seeing this when I was younger and is the reason this is one of my go-to movies. Yes, this movie affirmed that Jason can teleport. Julius' exit is always one of my favorite scenes in the entire franchise. I never understand movies that have people punching masks, but it entertains me, nonetheless. This movie makes no sense but has a nice pace, I like the boat scenes and is just fun.
