In an alternate universe: Reporter: "what about Smash? Why not have him play QB?" Mac: "you want us to move our all-state RB to a new position in the middle of the playoffs? I'm not wasting my time with you any more. Interview over." Disaster averted.
@CasualObserver94935 ай бұрын
Pretty sure they mention at one point during the season that he's played QB before and actually was moved to RB. That's why he has the ability to make that throw during the game (for those who don't see it, Smash makes a pass during the game) - and *that* is part of the bigger issue! But yes, the bigger problem isn't just one player or one moment, it's a historical trend - as the reporter noted.

Not sure about what everyone else is saying but Mac’s comments were racist. He questioned the ability of black players to play certain positions and to lead their teams. In 2020, we know this to be wrong and completely false. Black players, black quarterbacks, such as Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, etc. have shown that it was a lack of opportunity, not any inherent traits like Mac said. Shit, Vince Howard in seasons 4 and 5 proves Mac wrong anyway.

Just watched this episode. And the racism aside (very important but I found myself bugged by small details like always) there was one thing here. So the question being put to Mac is moving a RB (a very talented one) to QB to make up for Saracen's perceived weaknesses and potential (and likely given the Warren Moon's and Condredge Holloway's of the world). But I played football up here in Canada most of my life till High School. And I was a QB and the difference of complexity and game speed between JV and High School is huge. Why would moving Crash from RB, a strength of the team to QB really solve anything? That aside this was a moving episode that asked a lot of very interesting questions.

All I'm saying is they would've won consecutive championships with him at the helm cause they still had a decent running game without him and he could always run the ball as QB, and it made perfect sense because he was originally their quarterback on JV once Street went to Varsity, its natural for him to be next

Perfect example of why you don't talk about race in this country. Anyway, the real reason Smash plays RB and Saracen plays QB is comparative advantage. Saracen would be a horrible running back. He's not particularly fast and he's too small. So even if Smash was slightly better than him at QB the team would be giving up a top RB to make a minor improvement at the QB position. Not worth it. Also, despite all the BS about the QB being the leader of the team, it's not like there's any real hierarchy here. An RB has just as much chance of playing college ball as a QB. And on an individual level that's the only thing that matters.
