Chris did indeed get some Christmas pants and he wore them ALL day without complaint bless him!! I need to make him loads more to use up that awful tartan elastic now 🤣. Adam is a true treasure isn't he, oh how I would love to be able to make him something in return, but what?! Thanks for the comment on the dress, I think I saved the neckline but still worried it makes me look a bit Busty 🤭. Another year of So Carole? Gulp, I will need to get sewing then 🤣. Happy New Year my dear friend 💕🎉😘

Lovely makes, Carole. I love those boxers, but you are correct about the instructions, they are contradictory and confusing. I have found several of their patterns to be that way. I have not tried any Burda patterns, but I think I will for the New Year. That lovely ribbing will make your tops looks so professional. I don’t have any prints in ribbing, I just stick to black, blue, white and red. That seems to get me by. You have done a wonderful and professional job on your channel this year, so I expect the same in 2023, no pressure! I really enjoy your videos and look forward to next year. I am so glad you agree with me on the boxer pattern, I do have one other of their patterns but as it was a T shirt I didn't read them. I suppose they cover themselves with having tutorials. That is where I am old school isn't it, I am so used to things being in the same format with the big 4! I think that ribbing could look really nice with a plain sweatshirt so I look forward to using that. Thank you so much for your get well wishes for Chris, he has definitely turned a corner so I hope to leave the sewing room in the next couple of days. It has been the tidiest it has ever been without all the stuff on the bed 😂 . Hello, happy new year! All of your garments turned out great! I think the sewing pattern would be more appealing to me if it had more shape to it. Wow, that ribbing is so cool. Adam's gifts are so amazing. When you finish those large spools of thread save them and put them in your kitchen. When you make sugar cookies or shortbread you can use the ends as a stamp and they make a really cute flower design on your cookies. Your top is beautiful. I love the hem detail. You are really inspiring me to sew up some nice tops for the winter. And those are some fancy lounge pants. I love the band at the top. Great job on your dress, such a good save. Lovely to see you Carol, hope your hubby will feel better soon. In case you need good soft elastic for boxers I can recommend Prym. I got some elastic for boxers for Hubby and now he refuses to wear anything else (with the small exception of super fancy microfiber summer boxers) Beautiful gifts from Adam. I love your ribbing. It's so hard to find ribbing with a print. The quilted star is beautiful but the little dog's face is just amazing. It's so nice you had a nice chat and catch up. Love all your makes. The dress looks great on you. I have a big collection of Burda magazines myself. Some are 20+ years old. Thanks for reminding me about them. From my own experience- measure pattern pieces and remember there is no seam allowance included. I noticed from the Burda patterns that I have made that the sleeves are quite narrow. It may be just the patterns I have made. Best of luck with all your plans in 2023 :D happy New year

Thank you Agata for your lovely comments and hints and tips. I have loads of that elastic to use up but luckily my hubby has no interest in clothes and will wear anything. I'll remember that for next time though! Can you believe I made exactly the mistake with the Burda pattern you have warned me about 🤣. Because I had already traced the patterns years ago I just cut out the fabric then remembered about the seam allowance 😱. I may get away with it though as I have made the tiniest seams! It will end up being tighter but hey I was only giving it a go anyway. I knew there must be people out there with Burda magazines, how amazing to have ones dating back so far. You have to pull those out in 2023!! Isn't Adam the best, he is such a generous guy, I am so fortunate to have gotten to know him. Happy New Year and the most important thing, hope you feel better. 🤗

Dont be put off by the burda pattern sheets. I mainly sewing from Burda style, love the patterns, so many beautiful wearable designs. I highlight the outlines with a highlighter if the sheet is busy. Instructions are slim but ok, especially as you have sewing experience. Tips, look at the picture of the pattern piece in the Instructions, it shows all the markings on the piece to help you know what to look for on the pattern sheet, also there are small numbers in the corners of pieces, this is the seam number in order of construction, helps you see what goes to which piece , there is alot of construction info there did you know what to look for. Dont forget to add your preferred seam allowance to the pattern piece. Good luck and enjoy them

Hi there and thank you so much for all that good information. I have made lots of Burda Patterns before and do know their quirks but not from the magazines. That is such a good idea to highlight the pieces first. Your other advice came just hours too late after I cut out the fabric and forgot about the seam allowance, I think on this occasion I may get away with it luckily! Thanks again for taking the time out to tell me your success with the magazines. Happy New Year 🎉

I hate tracing, avoid it at any cost. Especially magazines.... Nightmare. Can't see the lines clearly, if I hang the mess up on the patio doors it's just hard work all around. Then one day I was in a garden center hardware store in the spring last year (might have been 2020? Can't remember) and they were getting all the greenhouse ready. I have been looking for years YEARS for some heavy mill plastic similar to building vapor barrier plastic. But it's very $$$ and you have to buy a humongous massive roll of it. There were times I wanted to stop at construction sites and try to get off cuts but never did. Anyway The plastic they were using to cover the greenhouses was the SAME stuff. Admittedly the roll is large(not at large as vapor barrier rolls) but it fits very nicely in a corner of the sewing room. It'll last me FOREVER but it makes tracing much more bearable. Transparent heaven. I can use a thin Sharpie or even a ball point pen. Easy peasy. And I think I paid less than $30🇨🇦 for it.

That is fascinating! I have only ever thought of tracing paper and strained my eyes to see the lines 😂. I also hate tracing patterns but I detest printing off PDF patterns even more. Top marks for you with your ingenuity with the plastic. Thanks so much for sharing your story and have a Happy 2023 🎉😊
