I have been making cabbage and potatoes with onions and sausage a lot lately since I got a big package of chicken sausages from Costco. They are super delicious. To make it easier though I cut everything up and drizzle it with a little bit of olive oil and some seasonings and cook it in the oven on 420° and turn it a few times every now and then. I cook it on our large metal tray, a pizza tray covered in parchment paper, and then I cover the top with parchment paper for half the cooking time.

What a scrumptious but simple lunch. When I get some more bacon, I'll try this because it is a good way to use up any leftover cabbage. Your mother had a beautiful face, Marie, even at that age. You are right about the frosting...the boxed Betty Crocker mix is not a common sight anymore, and I am surprised there is a market that still carries it. Was going to try this tonight. Had the bright idea to try and cook the potatoes and cabbage with a little vegetable oil or chicken broth. Use some of the precooked bacon in the microwave. Was all a bad idea. Vegetables just tried to burn up.Needless to say it was a wasted meal. Will make sure to use the bacon grease next time. lol

I tried this a week ago just like you made it and I loved it. Today, because I different leftovers I am going to try it a bit different. I am going to use the cabbage, onion, small diced carrots, bacon, leftover roast chicken cubed, and potatoes. I will let you know how it is. I really wanted to do something with my leftover chicken and thought I would give this a go. I am also using the carrots as it is hubbies favourite veggie. I also baked a cake like yours last night only I used vanilla cake. It was a hit as well. Thank you!

Cook bacon or fatback up to your liking and remove the fried meat and just pour the hot grease over lettuce and green onions and crumble the bacon in and enjoy. Sounds gross to some, but these are delicious, flavor depression type foods.

We just had to throw out our crop this year of cabbage, full of pincher bugs But did pick 13 heads of cauliflower and we had some for dinner on sat. and froze the rest. We love cabbage
