I got the joke and it's a funny one, but a smiley face emoji with only 1 parenthesis means something different to Vietnamese youngsters. It means that the user is upset or pissed but must still remain calm and civil because of the situation they were in (to us, the emoji looks so pissed). When young Vietnamese people want to joke or to express that something is funny, they use :))))) or such instead.
