Fried idly is not something new. I am 38 years old and when I was kid my mom used to fry leftover idly's and give it to us as a snack item in the evening after coming from school. You are saying fried idly is available only in Banaras in entire India. You are wrong. Fried idly is available in many other hotels. I think you have tried it for the first time.

No not stir fry, i am talking about deep fried idly. Deep fried idly with spicy groundnut powder or someother accompaniment is very common snack item at many houses who consume idly more frequently.
