I really appreciate you talking about the feel of the amps. Its such an important thing which you don't get from the sound alone.
@dsmc8016 күн бұрын
My friends and I were in my studio and during some fun testing, most of us couldn't really hear differences when toggling blindly on some of my digital (AXEIII & Kemper) stuff and tube amps through monitors and headphones. There were some small things that were discernable, though small enough that you couldn't hear in a mix. When we did a blind "feel" test while playing we could always figure out what were tube amps and what were digital. That feel is so large that it changed how we played and wrote for the song. That is why I still keep all of my wonderful tube amps. Props for mentioning this topic of feel.

For ME; the Friedman. For me recording someone else, the Bogner. For me putting together a fleet of touring amps, for the rhythm player, the Bogner... the Friedman for the lead. I love the Friedman as an eclectic (hack) guitar player, but as an engineer, it'd be hard to walk by that 'wild and raw, but still contained in a narrow aperture' utility/capability of the Bogner
@nicolasrivera5310Ай бұрын
Bogner has that perfect mix of a Marshall and Mesa MARK tone that is sooo good. The JBE sounds great, but I would take the Bogner any day. Thanks for the vid.

Awesome comparison, Mike. Really thoughtfully done. These two would probably pair nicely together in a mix.

How do you like your Pandora? Can you get close to the Snorkler tones at all with it? Great demos btw, thanks for posting. Sounds killer!
@eldoradoguitars6456Ай бұрын
@@phoenixbt Thanks! I didn't like the Pandora at all. I sold it very quickly. Not like the Snorkler at all. Much darker, thicker, and chewier. Hard to dial in. Pandora has less gain than the Snorler but more versatility.

I have a 50 watt Friedman modded 800 as well. It has the BE mod. The low sensitivity input is plugged and a thump pot installed on the back.Does yours have a thump knob in the back?

How would you compare the feel of the Bogner against a OG 5150? That's about the only high gain amp I have experience with. Compared to others, the sound just leaps off the strings. Most other amps I've played, I feel like I have to wrestle the tone out of it.

going to call sweetwater in the new year - get the snorkler. after watching this video, I feel like the snorkeler and the Uber would be a great combo versus the snorkler and the JJ. I felt like the JJ was too Friedman polite. Whereas the Uber seems more brutal, and the snorkeler has a nicer/sweeter while still having a little grind for the lead tones. your thoughts?

@eldoradoguitars6456Ай бұрын
@@primaballerina84 Maybe! I don’t have any Les Pauls at the moment (I’ve always been more of a Fender guy). Remember Jerry used this amp with a VERY bright guitar: his “Blue Dress” G&L that’s made of maple with an ebony fretboard and a Kahler trem. Bright!!

I preordered it by talking to my rep at Sweetwater, but I would assume any bogner dealer can do a pre-order if you have an aversion to them or prefer a specific seller.
@rodrigopolicarpo8377Ай бұрын
Snorkler sounds a little bit more grinding and more present to my ears. Maybe it would cut better in a band context and be less pleasant when playing solo?
@eldoradoguitars6456Ай бұрын
Snorkler will definitely cut more in a band context. It also sits pretty nicely in a recording without a ton of EQ because of its lean low end and notched midrange. But you would definitely want a low pass filter on it around 6k to tame the top end presence. I also would have lowered the presence a little if I had to do the EQ again for this video. Maybe 8.
@troygriffen9200Ай бұрын
Would running both of them at the same time be the perfect amp?
@eldoradoguitars6456Ай бұрын
Just double track one right and the other left imo
@MrSpillifyАй бұрын
9 times out of 10 I preferred the Friedman. I’ve had similar results A/Bing a BE-100 Deluxe and a Helios 100: Tighter, punchier, and smoother on the former and more raw and nastier in the high mids (bordering on harsh with the gain turned down in B2) and spongier low end on the latter.
