Amps are Friedman BE100, Dirty Shirley 40, Bogner Ecstasy 101b and Bogner Shiva with Cantrell mod. Used the same cab/speakers Bogner OS212 with Vintage 30s and guitar which was a R9 Les Paul Collectors Choice #24.

I own a BE100 and a 20th Anniversary Ecstasy. The Bogner has the 100b,101a, and classic pre eq's, as well as the Plexi modes. The Bogner has many more tones available. It has great cleans, and in between sounds. It can do classic Plexi and modern modded plexi tones. The gain is fluid and very dynamic, sting definition is spectacular. The BE is more of a one trick pony, but that trick is spectacular as well. You can get lost in the gain, gain with good string definition. I have them in a rig with an amp switcher, I couldn't live without either. Dave Friedman and Reinhold Bogner are the masters of tone.

On trick pony..I have the BE-50 dlx and its far from a one trick pony The deluxes are the way to go if you choose friedman Superb clean Spot on classic rock early metal on BE channel Superb high gain on the HBE channel And I own a 101b.. They are both different and both nearly the best at what they do. I give the edge to friedman on the Buxom Betty channel clean, thw 101b clean is not near as good

Ecstacy Red. I was in a band with someone who had the Uberschall, excellent amps Bogner makes!

I bet these can all be made to sound nearly the same with eq adjustments

Mal Reynolds maybe so but just one is much better than a crappy amp. If one of these had power scaling I could see being happy forever with it. It's a very good one sound

plus, I wouldn't say they are overpriced....Typically retail is 2x Wholesale & Wholesale is 2x to 3x cost, or more. This allows for all kinds of discounts in between at various levels and why you may see sales on certain things, because the pricing structure can absorb a little adjustment while no one losses money. Think about it, retail needs to mark it up to make it worth their while to pay for distribution costs and to keep their business alive. The manufacturer needs to regain their cost material plus their entire operating cost, plus a profit. No one's giving anything away because work is hard. so at $3000 retail, the actual cost of the amp could be around $500 or less. That Vox AC15 Head made in China is $500 retail. It's a very nice amp. in this scenario we are talking about VOX paying a contract factory to make them, and distribute them. VOX has to pay for the item, mark it up for distribution, mark it up again for wholesale, all while making a profit... retail then needs to double it so that AC15 Head could cost well below $80 to make, probably around $50. so while they are expensive, they are not overpriced. But I agree, there is a ton of crossover in the market and everyone is making one. Same with guitars. It can't live forever

Friedman, Bogner, Diezel, Mesa Boogie, and Marshal JVM are the best amps for rock and metal. Period. I'd love to own one of each one day. Well the Kemper and Fractal Axe FX offer all these amp models in less space and cost at least.

I would add VHT/Fryette as well. I would add the 5150 III as a dark horse.

Exactly what is the Cantrell mod for the Shiva?
@BPToneReview7 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Totoro I change the grids to the gain pot.
@nicholastotoro77217 жыл бұрын
Brent Pearcy Interesting... the result sounds a little more gainy, but doesn't seem to change the characteristics of the amp.
@BPToneReview7 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Totoro yes the voicing is still shiva but more aggressive, toothier with more gain.
@AJohnRush5 жыл бұрын
Brent do you have a Shop or is there a Schematic available to change the grid to the gain pot?
