I totally agree. The ONLY reason I can come up with is because they know the SHOW is the one paying any judgements and they are getting out of paying for these things themselves. But I agree, I don't believe I would subject myself to the embarrassment and humiliation that JJ can put you through on National TV over a $2,400 debt.

Have you ever been to small claims court or sued anyone? It is an expensive, time consuming process and when all is said and done the plaintiff has to chase the defendant around to try to get their money. Likewise, if the defendant doesn't pay, he can be taken to court again. By going on JJ, both parties win, neither has to hire a lawyer, as had been stated the defendant is out zero dollars, and best of all, it is over. No additional court appearances. Both parties can go on with their lives the second they leave the "courtroom" and never talk to each other again.

This is exactly why you cannot help people out because look at what you do to them in return. Ridiculous.

Anyone get the feeling there's more going on between Katie and the defendant than just subletting? Maybe that's why he didn't argue so he didn't need to explain so much. Why did he bring her to court? Why is he not suing her for the rent she didn't pay him? Remember the plaintiff mentioned at the beginning that he was now divorced so clearly the reconciliation didn't work and maybe she's the reason why...
