"I was on a photographic holiday in the Shetland Isles with my husband, arranged by a local guide. We'd gone to Sumburgh Head RSPB reserve to see and photograph the puffins. I'd sat down for a bit and taken my phone out to get a video of them coming into land when this little one decided to come through the fence. I couldn't believe my luck and as I had my phone in my hand and I started to video. I was amazed when he popped under my leg!"

Support for this: You can hear a seagull calling in the background right before the puffin seeks protection from the camera operator's leg (seagulls are among the most common predator of puffins), and it looks rather distressed while looking for a hiding spot. Putting two and two together, the puffin was most likely hiding from the seagull.

How do you know the puffin was hiding from a predator? He's probably been fed by humans so many times he's comfortable around one. If you ever have your legs like that you know that pets like to put themselves under it for whatever reason, it probably makes them feel safer.
