Those who know how to show empathy, typically understand other's situations, because they either experienced similar situations, and/or they were taught how to care about others. The Golden Rule, it's not widely used today like it was 20 some years ago. Too many are preoccupied with their own self serving needs and wants. In the midst of all the negativity out there, look for the helpers, they still exist.

@lukeorthiazzi_ I'm only human like everyone else, we learn from mistakes. I feel fortunate to have been brought up with moral standards and common sense like many others before helicopter parenting became a problem. Many choose to learn the hard way from personal experience. Either way, being brought up with tough love can be beneficial, but it can be confusing and painful at times too. There's many reasons to be grateful for that kind of upbringing and some reasons to be resentful for feeling distanced by one or another parent.
