I worked with General Mike's Joint Commission Observers during his time there and can confirm that our preference for air support missions was the Norske fliers of 720 Squadron, who had a fabulous attitude towards to the types of missions we were used to. The main liaison with us was 'Oivind', who did so much to engender the necessary relationship from which the (mostly!) uneventful (ie successful) missions were flown. Like General Mike I too spent many winters "i Norge" and grew to love the country and its people for their warm hospitality and generosity. The deep ties with the Jaeger Company at Trandum were formed way back in the mid 70s and I am pretty sure that they are paying dividends so far as Norway's security is concerned and it is most definitely a two-way relationship.
