I think it's more indicative of wanting a relationship that isn't based on sex. A kiss on the lips is much more suggestive than a kiss on the cheek. A kiss on the cheek can mean companionship, gratitude, admiration, comfort. This dream was about wanting a friendship with a girlfriend, a relationship that goes beyond the physical, which Joey had had precious few of over the years.
