It’s not like they were late. Ross is kind of acting like they are children who would not be rest on time when they needed to leave but would need to be told to be ready prior. Monica was only one really distracted, and Pheobe ended up with clothes issue.

this entire episode takes place in the living room/kitchen of Monica's apartment (except for scene after end-credits). People will be coming from bedrooms & main door into the hall. But, camera never leaves the hall. Nice direction. To do this for 20min without boring the audience, it takes great writing & acting to . And they did it in such a way that barely anyone could notice this. Awesome show!!

It’s interesting how this episode had to be filmed in two separate parts, on account of Matt Leblanc dislocating his shoulder while filming. So they needed to put the episode on hold, work on other episodes, and incorporate his sling into the continuity (i.e Joey hurting his arm offscreen by jumping on his bed and falling)

Chandler called Monica "Honey" when he was trying to comfort her about Richard's message. It's moments like this when I'm back on board with Monica/Chandler. Also, everyone knew well in advance about the plans for the night and should have already been prepared to leave when Ross arrived. Phoebe did a good job, and Monica sort of gets a pass because of her emotional distress, but everyone else besides Ross was being clueless and selfish. Rachel complained about Ross humiliating her, but didn't stop to consider how stressful it was for Ross watching all these childish antics and how humiliated he would have been if he'd been late to this important event.

In this episode, notice how as soon as Rachel walks out of the bathroom, she goes straight to Ross and wants to be held. Notice her huge smile and how she spends most of the time looking up into his eyes. Notice how she raises her voice into a cute, sweet tone. These are traits that most people look over, but believe me, that are extremely important. Because truthfully, whether in Friends or in real life, if you are deeply in love with someone, making them happy is what makes you happy. And that is the key difference between Rachel in love and Rachel with a crush. This proof that Rachel have been fell in love only with Ross and nobody else
