The moment when Rachel asks the doctor to call the baby "Baby Girl Geller-Green" was very touching. When Carol was pregnant with Ben, she insisted that the baby's last name to be "Willick-Bunch" (her and Susan), without thinking of how much it hurts Ross that the baby wouldn't have his last name. Despite treating Ross with disdain due to her mood swings, I love Rachel's respect towards him as a father of her child.
@ddjmfan

Yes I loved that part too. I loved that Rachel showed respect to Ross by giving the baby his name too. Rachel could be selfish at times but this was one time where she was completely unselfish. She realized that the baby belonged to both of them and should have both of their names. :)

Emma was the best thing that happened to Ross and Rachel. With Rachel's pregnancy, they gained more development, both individually and in terms of their relationship. Because even if they don't get back together right after her birth (although they should), Emma gave the necessary push so that the two really realized that they still wanted to be together.

What I love about this scene is before Rachel objects and says Geller Green, Ross didn't object to their daughter being called Green. His only concern was Rachel and the baby and it took him by complete surprise to see Rachel correct the doctor. This is a moment of pure selflessness from both of them. They bickered about many things and contradicted each other but in moments that defined them by true love and care they were true to each other. They just had to mature and learn to communicate better in order to move from the toxic part of their incompatibility.

absolutely, finally a mature comment by someone smart!! Opposite to the most brainless fans, you are not picking up sides, making generalizations about both characters and picking only flaws of each or bad times between them to paint a false, exaggerated picture of Ross and Rachel. They were never 'toxic', this word is thrown- around too much nowadays. They were just simply both too proud and immature, not able to get over their mistakes, but also, they were totally in love all this time but in denial, afraid to ruin things again.

They should have been back together at this point in the series. That would have made so much more sense. They were already more mature, they had a kid together, Ross was in love with her, Rachel was in love with him and they were both ready to try again and to get back together. The writers made a huge mistake by keeping them apart and messy for another 2 seasons. We deserved a proposal, a wedding and picture of them as a family, simply because they were the favorite couple, despite the fact that they were so toxic.

You're right but there's a difference in their situations too because Carol and Susan were gonna full time take care of Ben and Ross could just visit or get Ben for weekends but here they were both gonna raise Emma together. @@rainnmoon114 Agreed. Carol and Susan basically treated Ross as if he was nothing more than a sperm donor, when he was clear that he was in for this and wanted this baby. Like, I get Susan wanting to have some sort of official status vis-à-vis Ben since she was going to raise him with Carol and she loved him like her own, but actively excluding Ross and erasing his importance as one of the baby's parents was simply cruel.

To me, Rachel was proof that she grew up as a rich kid, got cut off when she left her ex at the altar and despite a few bumps in the road, she was able to build a new life for herself by working her way up the corporate ladder by starting out at Central Perk as a waitress, then getting bigger job opportunities. I at first thought she wouldn't make it on her own when Monica and Chandler had her move out when they got engaged but Rachel proved us all wrong. What this show taught me is that despite the hand everyone is dealt with in their lives, whether it be coming from a rich family and getting cut off, being infertile, having shitty relationships that end badly, not getting that dream job right away, etc, you don't let that keep you from getting what makes you happy at all. Plus, having a strong support system, whether it be your family or a couple of great friends, can help make life feel less rough.

@@CourtneyLachiver That's why I loved Rachel. She was that character that proved everyone wrong. Despite who she was back then, she grew up and became independent in her own way. At the end, she got what she deserved: a family and true love ❤

This was an edited version becuase they skip over the part where Rachel says "Honey, will you do it for me?" I hate that that that is gone because that is one of the funniest lines.

I love this scene. Very touching. Jennifer Aniston won an Emmy for her performance in this episode. And also a Golden Globe for her performance in Season 8. And during Friends time, she also won People's Choice Awards 4 years in a row (2001-2004) as the most Favorite Female TV Performer. She always thanked the show's cast, creators, and writers in her award acceptance speeches. Great achievement, great actress with humility. ❤️

If FRIENDS is a basketball team, David and Jen are the Kareem and Magic, Michael and Scottie or Shaq and Kobe. These two always electrified the crowd with their immense talent and chemistry. All members/players are important in a team, but when its crunch time you will always give the ball to these two deliver the goods!
