I don't know if they already do, but I seriously hope they take the chance and talk to a therapist. This is something that will follow them for a while and they all really need to talk about it with someone who knows how to deal with trauma. There's nothing, and I mean nothing, wrong with seeking help. But not talking to someone and just pushing down all the feelings could be really harmful for them. Sending all my love to these boys, from a Swede in Norway!

I really feel for them. I had an awful encounter with a black bear who ran up behind me. I was lucky and not hurt but I'm hypervigilant and nervous now in the woods. I want people to know that the "they will run away from you" thing isn't always true. I'm so glad they survived and I hope they heal completely including mentally because that is the injury you can't see.

No, and in many public lands it's illegal to collect shed antlers. Also, people aren't supposed to encroach on wildlife habitat so that the critters can find 1000s of calories for hibernation. These yahoos aren't heroes. If they were seriously hurt, wildlife officials would likely hunt and kill the bear.

I live in Montana and bear encounters are not unusual, particularly at this time of year as they eat and eat and prepare for winter; these young men are so lucky to survive and tell about an encounter with a grizzly; fortunately they were smart and able to help each other out; glad they will all recover - they were lucky and blessed

OMG! That's awful! So glad all 4 of you survived the attack! Me and my BFF hiked up a Mt. in Catskills, NY when we were about 10, we were in a stream so we were able to float and swim our way away from it. It was huge! We are much older now, but we both remember that day years ago. It is something we never forgot, as I'm sure these men will not either! God bless them in their recovery!

Every year... spring & fall bears become aggressive before & after hibernation. They are Protectors of their space. People need to spread the awareness to avoid these attacks but man I am so glad these kids are okay.

This is a traumatic, unthinkable incident that no one would ever dream of really encountering; the feeling of abject terror as you or your friends ar being mauled ripped apart right in front of you. The second guy is one brave guy....not only running into the attack to save his mate but being able to make a life saving decision to put his arm into the bear's mouth like it was a chew toy...all so the bear would bite into that instead of his neck.....some people are literally made differently....i know i couldn't do it.
