Friends: The Complete Series on Blu-Ray Unboxing

Here is an unboxing of the latest 2018 release of Friends: The Complete Series on Blu-Ray. I should note something here that I didn't mention in the video: I think the discs included in here are exactly the same as the previous release of this. The only difference, of course, is that this is a repackaging in a smaller box set style.

FYI, the Blu-ray format of the show contains the original broadcast versions of the episodes, not the ones with added footage like you find on the VHS and DVD releases. Just thought I should give you a heads up!

This Blu-ray set and Hulu have the regular versions of the episodes. They show all the episodes the way they were originally presented on NBC. The DVD releases contain scenes that weren't shown on TV in the United States. Basically, scenes that were cut for time or some other reason have been inserted into almost every episode.

It's pretty interesting how they're able to split 24 episodes across only 2 discs, though with every episode being roughly 20 minutes each that's roughly four hours a disc. Kinda weird though that the discs only use colours to dictate the seasons? Maybe because they're trying to present the series as a whole story rather than just seasons and episodes

It makes sense Avengers: Endgame is 3 hours which is roughly 9 episodes of Friends and it’s on 1 disc

Friends was on NBC back when it started on TV and The Simpsons and King of the Hill were on FOX which means Friends was not on FOX.

​@David Hinkle Friends (owned by Warner Bros.) was never on FOX originally, only in syndication (repeats). The original airing was on NBC from 1994 - 2004. It's only in syndication that FOX, TBS, etc. air them, for a hefty fee. On a side note that's not the Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco, Cali) on the bluray cover, it's the George Washington Bridge (New York City). Friends (owned by Warner Bros.) was never on FOX originally, only in syndication (repeats).

I've heard that this set has "20 hours of bonus material", yet it's not the extended version from the DVDs, so what do these 20 hours look like? I read this somewhere: "Friends: The Complete Series Blu-ray box set hits stores Tuesday for the first time, featuring all 236 episodes completely remastered, with 17 hours of extras from the original DVDs and more than three hours of all-new bonus features." EDIT: "The special features for the Friends set include 17 hours of bonus content from the original DVDs as well as over 3 hours of all-new features. I recently Bought a version of this FRIENDS THE COMPLETE SERIES on AMAZON for my girlfriend in Mexico but the languages only has SPAIN SPANISH, no LATIN AMERICAN SPANISH. Was this the case with this one?? I dont understand why the Blue-Rays didnt have Latin American Spanish, i'm dissapointed :(

I bought the DVD Complete Series of Friends. The price I paid was $59.96 at Wal-Mart and I waited a week and a half and got it right away. I looked for the Series at Best Buy, and Barnes And Noble and they didn't have it and I have seen a few episodes and it began when I was in High School.

@@ShotCallaMcGavin it does but you get extended episodes which featured scenes that was not shown on NBC. The DVD quality looks bad compared to the Bluray but the extended cut just satisfies it.

Where did you get it and what are your thoughts? Is it cropped? I’ve noticed that some shows are better when you get the individual seasons.

@@gutenbird The DVD is not cropped unlike the Blu Ray, the set I got still has the original DVD versions, which some episodes are extended, usually noticeable with the slightly extended theme song unlike the Blu which is just the syndication versions. Also they are the re-released version which are in regular cases so it's thinner but still has the episode info in a booklet
