We all know that Joey is such a sweetheart even if he’s a hardcore womanizer, he’s an angel. We all know that Monica is over the top and a train wreck but she is incredible and fierce. And we all know that Phoebe is, beyond explanation, she is quirky, hardcore from street life, but a sweet soul. That was one of the reasons why Perry was chosen. They couldn't find anyone who could make the humor in that character's lines funny. The producers saw Perry's audition tape and knew they found Chandler Bing. He had the delivery and ability to bring the material to life. So...they basically allowed Perry to improve his lines when needed. Such as in the case of "Two Bottles of Vodka Walking Around in Human Form" after Ross and Rachel stumbled out completely drunk.
