I'm late, but there are actually 3 different endings. 1: normal ending, (beat the game normally without exploring.) 2: Savior ending (get the dark emerald and defeat eggman) 3: Pathtic* Ending (Get the dark emerald and lose against eggman. The asterisk is there because I dont know what it's exactly called.)
