3:22 the trolls don’t actually eat their own grubs. Grub-anything is just what they call their food. Grub is even a word for food in our own language too, it’s possibly more like a prefix for them. It’s also been theorized that their food grubs are actually other insects, and that Alternian diet consists mainly of insects

Are you sure they don't eat their own grubs? Trolls use grubs for dyes after all, so why not food too? And it is Canonical that Alternia has an ridiculously high infant mortality rate. Well, it has a high death rate in general, but you get my point, hopefully.

I think grubs are also called wigglers when talked about as a baby troll. But grubs also are talked about as insects. Trolls don't have an exact word for grubs, or parts of grubs, or really anything like that. It's more of an umbrella term. Grubsauce is a pretty popular one, but I think it's been told that it's insects, not wigglers.

Yay my fave FS trolls! Skylla: as a vegan myself, yeah I’m with you on the ‘vegetarian, somehow’ line. Unless the writer wasn’t paying attention to the Troll Call card when writing the script… I’ve seen some fan works and headcanons stating that lowerblooded trolls could possibly eat more plant based and as you go up the haemospectrum, up to purple, there’s a lot more meat and fish being eaten. Seadwellers possibly eat more fish than meat and veggies but hey. Not canonical or anything. Vikare: Icarus, yes!! It’s so funny to me that Vikare is all ‘nooo it’s impossible to fly’ when he lives in a world where spaceships are commonplace. So he can fathom interstellar flight, but not terrestrial… It’d be cute if there were future plans for him to actually do some Wright brothers style experiments to learn to fly. With regards to the bones, birds that can fly have to have hollow bones and beaks rather than teeth. So it’s funny that Vikare uses bones when any kind of mammalian or troll bones would likely be too heavy and need a lot of hollowing out or trimming down. 😅 Chixie: I love Chixie and especially the whole thing (canon and fanon) where she has an awkward friendship with Marvus. (Speaking of, considering she doesn’t necessarily board the train (except for the SRO achievement outcome), maybe that was part of Marvus’ master plan since she was ‘plot relevant’. And nobody plot relevant would die in Act 2, according to the grandmaster. 😮

I love these trolls!! Bronze are my favourite caste with Vikare being my absolute favourite. Icarus which is Etruscan Vikare might have a happier interpretation . The name derives from the Ancient Greek name “Ī́karos (Ῑ̓́κᾰρος)”, composed of two elements: “hḗkō (ἥκω)” (to have come, to be present, to have reached a point) plus “āḗr (ᾱ̓ήρ)” (mist, air, wind, space, volume). In turn the name means “the one who reaches the sky”. Plus a reason that Vikare maybe is a bronze troll is that Icarus’s dad Daedalus is the man that built the labyrinth for the Minotaur (the massive bull monster).

3:24 not necessarily! MSPAR describes the grubcake as basically just a pancake, so I get the feeling that the word “grub” on alternia has a handful of different meanings. It could mean just any type of wormlike insect larvae which likely is a major part of troll diets, there’s the massive mother grub that lays eggs which hatch into wrigglers, and there’s the likely definition in this case simply being: just a word for food. Meaning that grub is likely often just a shorthand for food, maybe specifically because grubs are a likely staple in troll diets, but not necessarily baby trolls. Baby trolls are wrigglers. They are bug people yeah, and they eat bugs, but I don’t necessarily think that dead wrigglers are turned into food for other trolls. Felt the need to say it. Grubcakes are just pancakes, not ground up children.

Grubcakes are in fact not made of grubs. The Reader's narration says they're just ordinary pancakes. I'm also surprised you didn't bring up the incredibly popular headcanon that Skylla's name is pronounced "Skaia."

I looked into it and here's what i found about the name "Koriga" Koriga could also come from Korrigans from Breton folklore, beautiful siren-like fairies who lure men into their bed before murdering them (reference to the good ending of her friendsim route). Koriga might also come from The Morrígan, a celtic goddess or trio of such which inspires bravery in warriors and fear in their enemies. In myth, The Morrigan is seen both conducting around and assuming the shape of cattle and has an ambiguous relationship with the hero Cú Chulainn who's name translates to "guard dog".

If you tell Vikare airplanes exist, he gets angry, but also states he dreams of a spaceship that's lower to the ground. Despite never hearing of an airplane before, he doesn't want to touch the sky, he wants to glide below it. I wonder if it's linked to the wax wings story you brought up.

it's mwah-rail. they literally said it in hs canon also, i think that the events of friendsim are completely unrelated to hiveswap, since mspa player breaks the continuity of the timeline and such. but now that i think about it, since fozzer remains changed in hiveswap, that friendsim did happen in hiveswap, but i thought of something: wouldn't the entire series, from friendsim to pesterquest to hiveswap all be taking place in one locked timeline? also also, if the portal in hiveswap syncs time on alternia to when the person entering from earth goes in, it would be ~28 earth years away from both events of hs happening.
