You almost believe Himmel knew Frieren's emotions developed as slowly as her age. He didn't enforce his feelings he just made sure to remind her of their journey together through sincere moments and the statues along the way, and it is sweet that we actually do see Frerien develop those feelings long after his time.

I never thought the story was that sad, but then I realized this isn’t like Oshi no ko, they won’t come back. Friren is destined to carry the memory’s forward, slowly losing them. It also hurts when you realize that Himmel knew how much he cared about her, and was preparing to die the whole time. Himmel left such a big impact on her life I’m crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The beauty in this short is the way she stares at his statue that stair says it all even though the older lady is speaking it might as well fall on deaf ears, that look that looks she wears while staring at the Statue says she's living a thousand lives in one moment, completely disconnected and jaded to everything else around her in that brief second. For a human that brief second can feel like years, I can only wonder what it feels like for an elf 😢
