Die Rangirdnung inter den Hündinnen wird vor der Standhitze geklärt l Die ChefHûndin forciert zwar mIt der Hitze alle Rüden, doch hernach erwählt sie die den ruhigsten Rüden, absolute nicht den temperament svollsten. Kastraten sind, wegen ihrer langsameren Anlaufzeit, eindeutig I'm Vorteil. Spätkastraten sind durchaus zum Geschlechtsakt fàhig! Die Außenverteidigung ist primär die Aufgabe rangniedriger Rüden. Rangniedrigere Hündinnen, haben Ammen/Kindermädchenstatus. Der Boss/die Cheffin hat DAS Sagen, jedoch mit 80%. Über den Rest darf gegrübelt werden: Hat der Boss/die Cheffin selbst einen Fehler gemacht, oder übersieht er/sie gnädig den Fehler des betreffenden Rangniedrigeren. Yvonne verhielt sich absolute richtig,. Sie blieb ruhig und geduldig, und setzte sich mit großer innerer Gelassenheit, konsequent durch. Meines Erachtens ist die gemeinsame Fellfarbe von Rising Star impulsgebend gewesen.

I agree. Remember Hester and Frieda with Geertje? Uniek and the other mems stayed away from the girl drama and with their foals. It wasn't their fight. I think the same here. She won't challenge him too much because she will pick her battles with RS around. Even a true leader knows when to pick their battles. Being a leader doesn't mean always being bossy and dominant.

@@shellyross8283 Not really how it works, mares don't challenge the lead male horse/alpha "stallion" as they are at the top of the pecking order. A mare will be dismissive depending on the circumstances, like when the alpha "stallion" gets too close which we can see here 2:55 but that's not "challenging" the alpha "stallion", that's just protecting themselves from the alpha "stallion"s wrath. Only a stallion/gelding etc can challenge another alpha male horse. Also mares are more temperamental around their foals, not without them as they have to protect them. That's simply how the herd dynamics work (especially when it comes to mammals), the male counterpart are always at the top in the wild. Don't get me wrong, mares do attack stallions but not their alpha, they only attack no-mane/bachelor male horses to protect the herd until the alpha "stallion" comes around to fend off the challengers from bachelor herds.

Wow. Sjors has levelt up from Pake to King... Koenig Sjors? I really like this video for many aspects. You (Yvonne) have a mission and wraggle Sjors for the power. The body language was brilliant. The mares were cleary open to your calls. The king did gatekeeping and even chasing. All foals (even Sanne?!) kept to their mother's sides. How is Johnny handling another male being with his mares? I would have really liked to see Uniek question Sjors or pellets. I have never seen her put food second place. Sometimes even RS has to step back for it.

I've read it's a stallion's job to keep his mares from danger, if they are a natural, wild herd. Maybe Sjors sees the stable in a negative light, frustrating or boring? and won't let his ladies go in. And it won't be any better with him being forced into a stall that day, but what can you do. And then sometimes it also depends on mood.

So marvelous the way you watch and see the dynamics and not force the situations. You are a excellent excellent horsewoman. Gentle but distinctly approaching King Sjors with the head collar and using your voice to stand before him and "drive " him a little. Just getting him to move his feet a little shows the others you are actually the leader and your calm loving energy to halter King S and bring him in. I love you kept a gentle neural energy.... so good and possibly difficult for some, myself, and not show frustration. I've been in some hairy/dangerous situations with my horse when we were both younger. One ( the human- )must must must harness and quell their frustration and or negative emotions to connect with a horse(s). This has been my experience. You Yvonne are amazing. Truly. Unforced respect. Geldings will sometimes show stallion-like behavior, especially if they go with mares on pasture. My horse is a gelding and also in charge of about 12 other geldings. Thankfully, he always comes when called and take the rest of them with him.

It's so hard to believe that Sjors is 21 years old! He's a gorgeous horse. I've missed somewhere along the way watching these awesome videos just what breed Sjors is. He looks like a Quarter Horse to me, but I could be wrong. What breed is he? I've been wondering & this video prompted me to finally ask! Yvonne you do a wonderful job with the horses. Today you let Sjors KNOW who the real boss is.....he got put in his stall first because of his willfullness. Just where he DIDN'T want to go! You handled that situation well. I had horses myself, (sadly not anymore), & I want to let you know that watching your videos is so enjoyable. I love watching the foals being born & growing up & watching the graceful movement of the Friesans. Just hearing their hooves as they walk & seeing their sweet gentle nature is so soothing for me. This is interesting herd behavior but I can’t imagine you want Sjors controlling the herd this much as it’s interfering with your ability to work with the mares. I sure wouldn’t want him becoming aggressive with you when you’re among the herd.

@@kimberlyearly8918 it is perfectly fine for him to be in a separate pasture, he was for quite some time and the other horse (can't remember her name, but the white one) is. The issue is that Sjors is basically telling Yvonne that HE runs the heard, not her, and that can actually make for potentially dangerous situations. I have been around, worked with, and trained horses my entire life so I sort of know what I'm talking about... And side note, most stallions are kept separated to keep them from fighting for dominance.

I read the comments. Sjors has claimed his mares and the foals. They are his. This is how nature works with horses. Unfortunately, this is a breeding facility for mares and this type of behavior is not helpful to staff and operations. This behavior that Sjors shows cannot be reversed. The mares will always be submissive to him now. Loved this video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

She's the leader of the mares (you can tell how they follow her), but with Sjors being the male (even though he's a gelding), he assumed the stallion duties to protect and defend the herd, so... when he says no, they listen to him, especially when they have foals to protect :)

I am glad Uniek is not pregnant. As any mother of multiple children knows, growing a baby inside of you takes a lot out of you. Not to mention the actually birth which is difficult for all species. I can't watch the mares foaling ...too triggering for me. I live in a rural area and watch dairy cows give birth year after year to provide milk for us humans. Then, when they have had as many calves as possible, it's the slaughterhouse for them. Too often, the animals in our care are treated like slaves, having no control over any aspect of their lives. Uniek deserves a break after losing Star and fostering Rising Star. Rest up, Uniek.

I love this video. Sjors is the leader of the herd. I am sure he thinks Rising Star is his son lol and the mares are his herd. It’s so awesome to watch them together, they are all so beautiful 🤩

When Sjors gave that little sideways head shake, that was him saying "okay, Yvonne, I'm seriously getting annoyed here! I am king of my mares and I say we are staying out." Fortunately, Yvonne has many IQ points on Sjors.

Sjors is beautiful but this stressed me out. How do you fix this problem? I mean if it continues it will be a huge problem it feels like to me. You’re a total expert, though, and who knows when this was shot, so I’m sure you have it under control. Never seen this with your horses.

Nothing a little extra groundwork or coming out to halter and lead him won't fix. If it comes down to him being more aggressive with the mares, then you'd separate him but for now she's probably watching it closely and handling it.

Yvonne, Sjors doesn't respect you and that's why he leads the others away from you. Typical male horse behavior. You have to show him you're the leader of the herd and move him out of your way. I used to run into this all of the time with stallions and geldings. I would walk right up to them and move them out of my way. After a few times, they got the idea and started to follow me. When the other horses saw that the "leader" was following me, they would do the same. Glad to see Rising Star and sweet Uniek are doing so well. She's a special horse.

Yes, I've learned firsthand that horses can be stubborn. One horse brushed me up against the sage brushes until the owner came and scolded him and me for "letting him have his way." Haha, apparently I was a pushover for the horse.

Deb T but the problem is the gelding doesn't obey her and Queen Uniek, the herd leader before the gelding was put in with the mares does obey her. Scorsese interferes with what Yvonne wants to do with the herd. It's not a natural situation like a wild herd.

Deb T is correct - to deal with a lead horse who wants control of the herd, you need to directly work with that horse and teach them that, no, in fact, YOU are the boss. This is done easiest through 1-on-1 round penning or lunging, but you CAN also do this when in with a herd. You need to make the horse challenging you move their feet. This early on, when the horse is testing the waters and only starting to be pushy, is the best time to take charge and make them move so they don't get brave and attack you later. The most dangerous horses are those that have learned that they can be the boss of humans. It is best to be "tough" and establish you won't tolerate that kind of behavior early on - when all you'll usually need to do is wave around, stand tall, and MAYBE stomp your feet or throw the end of a rope at them. If you don't, you end up with a horse who will be willing to actually trade blows with you to in order to be dominant over you, which is bad for both you and the horse. You don't need to be mean - you just need to be strict. Catch and correct bad behavior early and quickly, and as soon as the horse starts giving you the result you're looking for, release pressure and be their friend again. This is how horse herds work, so we as humans would do well to learn it and use it to our advantage!

Well my my Pake Sjor’s is getting quite full of himself all the time with the mares is making him think he really is a King. It’s interesting to see a gelding display behavior associated with stallions pushing the mares back and snaking them along with all the head shaking although doing this towards Yvonne is definitely not a wise choice as she will remind you who’s boss Mr. King that’s very rude of you. Thank you for this glimpse into herd behavior Yvonne your videos are always wonderful to wake up with but especially today on my birthday the Herd always brings me such joy and they make my day that much better and I feel like I can celebrate with them.🐎🐎💚💚

Shouldn't have ever kept Sjors with the herd... he's defiant, rebellious ways frightens them... when they were without Sjors... everytime they came in... This is the first for me to see this! Keep them separate. I knew it was going to happen before it happened. Uniek needs to stay QUEEN. He's even telling Yvonne, he's the boss over you.

Actually, it's pretty awesome that Nature still commands. Reason...if, God forbid, these Mares and Foals got caught in an unfortunate situation..i.e. Someone sneaks onto the pasture when Yvonne or Rein or anyone else who are Family to the Herd..are not present to defend...King Sjors would do the job Very Good!! Sjors would defend his mares/foals! He isn't aggressive to Yvonne because he knows Yvonne IS the Human Leader..but he is the Horse Leader, as Nature..DNA eons old, ..dictates. it took quite some time for Sjors to get up the courage to do what he is designed to do, but he did!! All the Herd knows to Respect Yvonne...they just, instinctively, need to depend on Sjors also. Hope all that makes sense 🙃🙂

Well, that was an eyeful! Once again we've gotten quite an education in herd dynamics. After many weeks of integrating into the group of mares and foals, and finding acceptance there, Sjors has finally taken his role to the limit. It will be very interesting to see how Yvonne and Rein decide to handle this.

It will become a duty for a gelding to make up for. not being a whole stallion anymore. He has an obsession re his being. TOP OF THE STABLE N PASTURE SOCIAL STRATA. This is all in his UNBRIDLED EGO but as long as he is given a herd he is obsessively duty bound to keep PROVING he is king. Yup it's all on his. male ego but will become untenable as he turns into 'nasty horse'. Count on it.

John, that is hard to do because a male always trumps a female with prey herds... this is not like a dog pack where female ultimately rules. Even geldings retain leadership instincts over mares... especially the ones who are pregnant or still trailing foals.

Strangely enough, prey animals stick with the bigger and stronger (male)leader ship position. It is the predatory animals that appear to be (male) but there is usually a female behind that male. (Face that launched a thousand ships). The attack was ordered by a male but a female was the power behind it. Look at pathetic humans. Lol. It was the beauty/fairness of the daughters of men that brought down the sons of God to this wicked dual system. :)
