The day after weaning! Are Belle, Blomke, Coralle and Saly having a hard time? For a moment it seems to be going very well but then it all goes wrong in the pasture. What happened?

I desperately want her to come back. I think Stal H the best place for her. She was so wonderful and adapted so well, and took over the leadership spot after Uniek. She really let her guard down and learned to trust Yvonne. She fit in so well and she honestly deserves a spot there. I wish Yvonne would create a GoFundMe for her, I bet she'd get quite a bit from the herd. I would certainly donate, just like with Uniek.

@nothings wrong with her. She did a wonderful job as a surrogate mem for Bella . I think Risey is very good with her & will miss her & Saly needs to settle as it could be anxiety that’s contributed to weight loss being the sensitive sweet one . Hopefully Yvonne will keep us updated on Coralle when after she leaves & who knows what the future holds as we share Yvonnes journey. Thank you Yvonne, your the best🌷

To oversee the weaning of foals takes a very dedicated and knowledgeable person who has the ability to take responsibility and make decisions; has a sharp eye for detail, cares intensely for the well-being of the horse and acts with calm efficiency in any situation. That is Yvonne!

Coralle is breaking my heart. She is so upset, and we don’t know her past to know how bad this is for her. She couldn’t have been a better mama to Belle, and it’s terrible how upset she is. I get it. I’ve weaned horses. I do understand, but Coralle has a very special place in my heart. ❤️ ❤❤

So true 😔 Coralle always have to leave her babies behind and go back "home" alone, not seeing them anymore. Never know how the owners handled her afterwards. She learned so much about love here with Yvonne, that gives a double feeling.

​@jeanninemargueriteweber2563 some say it's not good for the Foal. However my family and friends that own horses that have given birth didn't have a problem. They observed the Mares and foals interaction closely. although approached, My Family and friends with horses never sold any of their horses. They felt there was no better hands then their care of their horses and because on todays environment you don't know their final fate if there is not a special Clause included to prohibit resale without notifying the previous owners.I feel bad for Coralle. She's shipped to different places for productions of foals, then have to leave them behind😢. We don't know her full history. But we do know she was a hand off Mare when she arrived. That tells me she's not accustom to receiving hand on affections. I wish she could remain with Yvonne.

It was Yvonne who was having the hard time, besides that one very brief moment the mares really didn't seem to give a fluff one way or the other. I think it must be emotional to Yvonne because Coralle has to go home and she will miss Coralle, she was never emotional like this weaning any other foals. On the other hand without gorilla bullying her biting her chasing her and chasing her away from food maybe now Sally can finally put on some weight. Coralle is lovely but her constant bullying has caused ongoing problems.

Sally is experienced and calmer yes, but always sees her babies back later and of course she's in foal again, which makes it different as well. Coralle is probably a veteran as well, but doesn't see her babies anymore when she's going home. I know it's necessary, but understand that Coralle is more upset 😢

I remember weaning Risey and Uniek at Stal G., where boxes were built different. Risey was already seperated in a box with youngsters of his age but when Uniek was passing by she would let him nurse for a moment until she clearly was done with it. This was great to watch! 😊

Yes I remember but Uniek and Risey remained close, even when he return to stall H they remember each other. Coralle don't have that luxury. She'll be put on the trailer heading to an holding place, then off she goes to her other home I can only imagine how many times she has gone through this process. And we wonder why she was very hands off. That probably one of the reasons. Being shuffled around bred insecurity.

I remember when it was time to wean Risey from Uniek. There were others at the same time, but it was Uniek who was the most distraught, despite Risey being her adopted son. To her, he was HER baby and she was upset being separated from him. They got past it, although it was hard at first.

One must appreciate Reintje, who remained quite calm, throughout, carefully keeping her Baukje out of danger...Goedzo, Reintje...you are reliable, careful and ravishing! (I do hope her lameness will be healed...and very soon!) I was impressed by her "protection' of Baukje, back in the stal...."Don't bring that nonsense around my child, Coralle...get over it!" I believe Reintje will become a good herd leader....

Coralle goes a little crazy out in pasture, running around and neighing constantly for Belle. Inside it seems Blomke is reacting more strongly to the weaning separation than Belle. Very sweet when mothers come back and go immediately to check on their daughters. ❤

Remember the "great wire escape" that happened early on after Coralle joined the herd? When she was still battling it out, oh ever so determinedly, with Queen Uniek for "head mare" post. While Coralle and Saly have both been incredible Moms to Belle and Blomke, I can definitely see the differences between these two breeds. Most Friesians appear to not be as “hot” compared to other breeds. Regardless Yvonne, you always have been an incredibly gifted person who can “read” your beautiful herd’s needs and continue to train/grow an amazing herd! Cheers!

Ha there truly is never a dull moment as the Stal H world turns “quick the manager is gone let’s make a break for the forbidden oasis while she’s not looking” on a serious note though I’m relieved it ended well and nobody was hurt. I’m also not surprised Coralle took the first leap it’s in her genes after all,Warmbloods are known for their jumping skills (for those who didn’t already know C is a Westphalian German Warmblood)😁😂🐎⚡️

Saly is a much more experienced mother, and a calmer mare overall than Coralle. Belle is only C's 2nd foal (I think?)

Wow, this was exciting and a bit scary. Poor Coralle, missing her baby because she is such a good mom. Glad all was fixed and Yvonne didn't get hurt.The foals really missed their moms, life is tough and this had to be done. Good job Yvknne.🐎😉

Correlle is such a good Mom, she was frantic. I've been through this process, but we had 2 barns we separate in. They still called to each other and it was so sad. I'm amazed at how your horses respect that one strand of wire. We used electric but never just one strand. Also could not bring our horses in from pasture by just opening the gate. They had to be led one at a time with halter and lead. 😂

I love how both Goengamieden and Stal Horjus horses are left to enter and exit their barn/stal freely...once they know the way, as young fillies...it is a joy to observe! This is the beauty of a herd...one leads, they all, dutifully, follow...THANK YOU, Yvonne!

One could sense a shift of mood, in all the horses, on this morning...each had some, maybe distant, recollection of weaning/being weaned.....All except Baukje, who has no idea of what is happening; for now, she remains totally innocent! What a crazy day! Coralle looked so beautiful as she ran around and called for Belle. She is an emotional horse and it was probably her that brought down the wire. I'm glad to see that she hasn't lost her appetite! 👍 The horses will settle down over time and I think you giving Saly and Coralle extra exercise will help a lot: Very thoughtful and careful weaning. Giving the girls a bit of pony company will help them feel less alone as well. After all the activity and stress I loved how you finished the video with a cuddle with Blomke and Belle. Comforting for you, for them, and for all of us watching at home. Thank you for sharing!❤

Weaning is always sad and hard . I didn't realize that both Blomke and Bella were over 6 months old, I'm happy they got to be with their Moms for so long. I have read in the wild, mares nurse for up to 7 or 8 months, usually 5 months they are weaned I'm glad they got to nurse longer. Risey was having a great time, jumping and running all over;he's really enjoying his life 😘

Coralle reminded me, so much, of Queen UNIEK, after losing STAR...one would never realise she was under stress, as she just kept on munching.....am wondering, is this part of their survival behaviour???

@@lisajoyaslanis Interesting question: Do horses eat to relieve stress? In humans, this is actually partly a stress reaction. I have not been able to find out whether this is also possible in horses. But it is probably the case that horses produce a lot of stomach acid in stressful situations. This is broken down by saliva. Eating causes more saliva to be produced.

We used 4 wires as external property fence- with the top one being a 1.5 inch white ribbon electrical wire and the middle and bottom wires being like the one you’re using. Bottom was about 18 inches off the ground and the top thick wire was at about 4 .5 feet. Horses always keep the owners busy- you have beautiful animals. So lucky you are they’re owner! Saly takes this weaning thing quite easy. The Boss Coralle, on the other hand, has the extra job to keep the herd together - so it might take some time, until she can completely relax with the process. - Risey was galloping well at the pasture!

Friesian Horses always respect the Wire. Even when it's lying on the ground. That being the case, I'm guessing that it was Tornado Coralle who tore up all of the Wires in the Pasture. Yvonne said that she was not allowed to put up a wooden fence to keep the Horses in. Is that a Friesland or Netherlands thing? Here, in America, everyone who has Horses has those wooden fences. I still find it unbelievable that the Horses respect the Wire as much as they do.
