I followed your suggestion and glad for it, particularly since Christian was commenting on the difficulty of light red and yellows just as I'm painting with those colors. Thank you for steering me this way and please post more soon. Any more from Frieze?

Tal is known for Distemper paints 《rabbit skin glue and pigment) .. heat tbe glue, mix in the color, paint while the mix is still hot. It can get lumpy when cooling off. I'm thinking the oil paint was done on TOP of the Distemper there.

I wonder if Tal considers himself Jewish, even though he spent time as a child on a kibbutz. I got the impression he didn't believe in an afterlife in an interview I heard with him. Great artist, thoughtful guy. Also, think Gert and Uwe Tobias would be a natural fit for this gallery.

He said something like (paraphrasing) "We come from nothing and we go back to nothing and being an artist is having a lifelong dialogue with this nothingness". Guess that does not necessarily mean he does not necessarily rule out a belief in an afterlife. Think many Hindus and Buddhists would be okay with this idea. And looking into Jewish thought on the afterlife it seems as varied as Christian thinking on the matter. And yeah, great painter. Really great.
