This video shows how to find and remove the lower oven element in a Frigidaire Galaxy Double Oven. Please note - This is a quick video showing the basics! Since it was a learning process for me as well (and couldn't find anything online to help), I started recording from the mid-point to show what I had done to finally get it out. Hopefully those tips will save you some time. We had to wait for the part to come in and did not record putting it back in - Reverse the process.

I never post anything online, but I'm so grateful for your video, I wanted to reach out and express a big fat resounding thank you! Your instructions worked flawlessly for my Frigidaire Gallery FGET2765KFA double oven and you saved me a very pricey service call. Prior to changing the bake element, the oven used to struggle to reach (or get close to) whatever temp I set. When it finally did reach the temp, the temp would not hold. After a few minutes, the temp slowly dropped by as much as 100 plus degrees from whatever temp I set. Thanks to your video, I was able to find and replace the suspect element. I found it had a browned-out spot with 1/16" gap of wire that had apparently burned/broken off. Anyhow, I bought the element from Repair Clinic but had to wait about a month and half to get it... at the time (late Mar 2023), they were out of stock, but I did get it for under $200 including tax and shipping. Thank you again!

I repaired mine too. I have an extra tip: before you insert the new element, tape the two terminal wires to the underside of the sheet metal so there is nothing hanging down. On my Kenmore Pro, there is only enough space to insert the element, so those terminals on the end of those wires will get hung up on the actual heating strip of the element and damage it before you can get it fully inserted. Also it's difficult to get those wires out because they're pushed towards the back of the oven now. Taping them to the roof of that space keeps them up and out of the way as you insert the new baking element and then they're easy to access when you're ready to plug in the new element. Other than that, no issues with this fix!

Thanks! That was so helpful. I have a Kenmore Elite double oven, but it looks like it shares 99% of the design and parts with this Frigidaire oven. I guess I overpaid a lot when I got it 10 years ago. Your video saved me a lot of time. It wasn't very obvious how to get to the upper oven bake element and the user manual instructions were completely wrong. With your video, I pulled it out real quick and the element is exactly the same and burnt out in the same manner.

Thank you so very much for this video! Took a while to analyze what was wrong with our oven as it only showed two elements. Your video helped identify the third (not in our manual) and how to access it. It wound out to be the lower element. Found a replacement on-line and installed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world!

Thank you for uploading this. This worked for my Frigidaire in-wall double oven. I followed somebody else's idea & used a metal rod to help slide the element tray back into the oven (I used a fireplace poker, wrapped in duct tape so I didn't scratch or dent the oven). I did have to bend the front mounting brackets of the silver metal tray (where the element is screwed to) to remove it, and I bent them back after I finally got it back in place w the new element. Be sure to label any wires that you disconnect (I made a sharpie back tick on the right wires & took pictures too) -although I'm not entirely sure if the polarity really maters on these connections. I thought I might have to build a stand to slide the oven out on but this was not necessary for me.

Quick question, were there any screws holding the unit into the wall or will it just slide out? Thanks.

@brandonr8779 26 күн бұрын
@@brucewilson2233 I'm pretty sure there were screws that were attached from the oven to the cabinet it slipped into, but not many.

This is awesome, I was just yanking on the inner part of mine trying to pull it apart just now and getting nowhere. Edit: A tip for getting the new element tray back in place. The double oven is literally just 2 wall ovens stacked together with a spacer rail. If you take the entire oven out of the cabinet, you can separate the ovens to give you more room to work. There’s a vertical black rail at the front and a spacer rail between the 2 ovens on each side. You’ll need to remove all of the screws from the top half of the black rails, including the front vent screws. Then you can remove the top set of screws on the spacer rails except only loosen the screw in the very back(acts as a pivot point). Now you should be able to pivot the top oven back and get 2-3 extra inches of space to work with.

Man thanks so much for the video. My liner split, and I thought I could replace that too thinking I would have to take that out. Looks like this is going to be 1000x easier than I thought. I was using the "Keep Warm" setting, and noticed the oven being on for about 30 minutes was not warm at all. So now I have to use the "Bake" options at 170F to get the same result since it will use the 3 other burners to heat the space. It makes sense now that the homemade pizza was not getting brown/crisp on the bottom last time I made pizza. BTW, up here in Canada, I am looking at a price of $411 to replace for just the part, but the oven was $2K 10 years ago. Again thank you for taking the time to post this. Jim

Excellent Thanks! A few tips. The electrical leads get stuck behind the element, after you push it in. I tied dental floss to them, so I could pull them out afterwards. Also, very little clearance to push element in, so I removed 2 more screws, simply to get the screw heads out of the way. At the front center of the oven, there is one going vertically up, and another going vertically down. Those few extra mm of clearance you gain were really helpful.

Thank you for posting this, as your video was the only insight into this installing this replacement part I could find on the web. Our Electrolux walI oven was diagnosed with bottom bake element failure. This was an easy replacement once I knew how to access. A pin, a few screws and some easy remove/reconnect connector pins and the job was done. Saved over $200 with DIY!

Not so fast ;) - I bought the replacement element from Sears Parts Direct since they had the best pice .. with a discount coupon and shipping it was right around $200 .. the old part did not just "slide" out, the sheet metal tray was hung up on the porcelain "frame" .. and its very tight fit with the center " spacer not quite having room to pu;; out .. .. Also when sliding back in the rear of the tray has to go "up" into the opening and I had to use a long rod to push it up ... all the other comments about the electrical connectors being hard to get to after sliding in were no joke ;) - they are BTW hard to get off the spade if your oven is as old as mine .. it took some encouragement to get them to slide off .. If you have a tough time figuring out how to pull your oven way from the wall opening -- under the control panel, on the black rails (upper corners) there should be screws holding it in place... (5th journey - thanks for cheat code on getting to the opening in the middle between the ovens !)

What were the symptoms that lead you to the bake element replacement? Mine is the same model and isn’t holding temp
@The5thJourney
@The5thJourney 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, same thing - it wasn't holding temp. We were baking something and it just wasn't cooking. We first used a regular oven thermometer to see what was going on. Then, we used an infrared thermometer to figure out which element was not heating. Thanks, please check out our Off-Grid Build too @The 5th Journey Off-Grid kzbin.info

Did your replacement part have a wood-ish ring sitting on top of the ceramic element (within the metal frame)? Is that supposed to stay? I can't find anything on it.
@The5thJourney
@The5thJourney 2 жыл бұрын
Right in the center there is a piece of material on top of the ceramic. You an see this in the video, it looks like a black plastic square. I'd guessing this is to prevent the element from touching the metal above it.
