Excluding Amphibia, which I put as more of a 2020s and beyond show, there were 2 shows from the 2010s decade that really connected with me. One was Wander Over Yonder, a show that had plenty of slapstick but a lot of heart and optimism at its core. It was refreshing to see that kind of take in a very cynical world. The other, of course, was Harvey Beaks. Harvey Beaks probably ranks as my second favorite animated program of all time (right behind Wander), and it's due to the style of it. How characters interact, how stories play out. This was LEGITIMATELY a show about kids being kids. Something I think a lot of cartoons either don't do, or fail to grasp. The humor was always on point, making adult characters feel like characters and not just nags to the children was also fantastic. As you said, the show had a ton of heart, and you can feel that from each and every episode. Whether it's an episode dealing with deep emotions such as jealousy, or a fun episode done almost entirely with different art styles to show the winter holiday. It's also special to me, that both shows (Wander and Harvey) had musical episodes air in the same year. Both of them were fantastic spectacles of what the teams could do with their characters, and showed that even placing them in a slightly different setting, you could still get the same tone and spirit the main show gave. I think most people have a negative attitude toward Nick these days, and it's not without merit. Saying, "well SpongeBob does these numbers!!" and then expecting a new show that you barely air or market to do the same is insane. SpongeBob was considered a one and done back in the day from what I remembered, as they were pulling all their resources into making more Rugrats and Rugrats spin-offs. Now look at that show. You gotta give shows an actual chance to shine, otherwise everything will look "mediocre" ratings wise in comparison. (Not to mention a lot of SpongeBob now is just the kind of really cruddy humor you'd see in a Minions movie, which goes to show how much the network actually gives a crap about its target demographic.) Anyway. Harvey Beaks or any character from Littlebark Grove for Nick All-Stars!!
@donovan8022 жыл бұрын
I pretty much agree with everything here. And regarding Wander Over Yonder, yeah two seasons was really disappointing. Whether it would’ve been more wacky adventures or Wander and Sylvia still trying to reform Dominator, maybe even realize most people are beyond redemption, I just wanted to see the, again. The first episode of Chibiverse kinda did that with a two second clip of Wander and Hater, short but sweet, but I would appreciate it more the voice actors reprised their roles

Literally my favorite Nickelodeon show, very sad that it got canceled...
Harvey beaks is probably one of the most underrated shows ever. I was thinking about having my show on nick until I heard what happened to Harvey beaks. That’s when I decided to go indie. The amount of disrespect animation gets from the networks is just sad. This show deserved way better, but I’m glad it had a strong 2 seasons. And it was able to end off on a big finale. Also the music in the show is phenomenal

I hate Nickelodeon for not giving their shows a chance. Especially this on, Carl worked with Spongebob during the best years of its life and this is the thanks he gets? Nickelodeon is stupid, they deserve to go bankrupt!

I remember seeing Harvey beaks premiere on nick but the next time I saw it was moved to nick toons. The show was average something you could have in the background and not mind but the show became a turn of for me since nick toons was 90% the time playing only bread winners during mid day of my time zone.

Harvey Beaks went big on emotional beats, and for me, it didn't always hit, and sometimes came off like discount Fraggle Rock or something like that. However, it did hit often enough to watch, and once it became clear it was getting the Nicktoons treatment, I started paying it more attention and realized it had a real niche amongst Nick's other "louder" shows. Breadwinners just sucked tho
