Cilic AND Nishikori in 2024? Talk about a throwback

@@autoenthusiastindia1365 Novak and Rafa are the exceptions to the rule so it's pointless to use them for that argument. It is a throwback.

Wish Nishikori can win at home. Still remember the day he lost to Cilic at that USO Final. Devastating.

Nishikori was a complete monster that year... but Cilic was even better during this specific tournament Without injuries, they would have won at least 3GCs, pure talents !

@@martintravella8035 Currently 6th in the race to Turin (points earned this year) and 9th overall. Only 3 players this season have more titles. Has more titles than world #2 Zverev. Has the 3rd most match wins on tour this year. 7th in 2024 winning %. Thompson has had his number this year. It's not just Sinner/Alcaraz/Djokovic great, everyone else mediocre. If the prevailing mentality is win a slam or bust, then all but 2 or 3 players are going to be seen as not great. We never left the big 3 era, it's just under new management with Sinner and Alcaraz beating everyone at slams.

This is ATP 500 not a grand slam where you get a Weak First rounder most of the time. Most of those who lost in the first round lost to very tough in-form opponents. Fils won a tournament this year and playing good tennis, Nishioka won a tournament just a month ago. Thompson is playing the best Tennis of his career and Coboli has been extremely amazing these past few months. None of the defeat is surprising.
