Oliveira is always so inspiring. He takes risks when he plays and cares more about the musical effect over all else. And this is not to say that he is phenomenally equipped with a brilliant technique, for he is, but he is less interested in missing a note or two if the musical line is present. I recall a live performance of Bruch's Violin Concerto in either 1999 or 2000 in Rochester, NY. He was simply stunning and had such verve. A wonderful speaker and humble man as well.
