Recorded in the same year that he passed away at the age of just 35, the same age Mozart was when he died. Cruel that this stellar talent could be lost to his family, and the musical world, at such a young age. It is impressive how much he managed to record in 12 years or so.

His interpretative abilities in this role by this point in his career had matured such a great deal since the late 50s, if you compare his earlier Tamino performances to his later ones. Interestingly, my favorite Wunderlich performance of this specific aria is not from an actual production but the June 1965 Salzburg recital with piano accompaniment. That one is near flawless.
