Next-Gen Ranger Raptor build continues but something's wrong with the bed cover!

More modifications go into Project Ranger Raptor as we inch our way towards our first road trip! We finally have the much needed bed cover but encounter some problems along the way. We actually need your help in deciding how to use it properly. An automatic stepboard now replaces the stock one, and I think it cleaned up the side profile of the Raptor very well. More mods and videos to come! I hope you guys enjoy this one!

Top flip ultimate owner here. You have to open the cover first before closing the rail gate. It’s designed that way to keep your bed lines water proof.

Topflip owner here. May latch lock ang tailgate when the cover is locked.. meaning di nabubuksan ang tailgate pag nka close ang cover.its serves as the lock na din for the tailgate. No need to handle two seperate keys ( cover and tailgate)

My topflip trifold is just as annoying to close. Need to close the tailgate before the top then need to unlock the cover before opening the tailgate. But my trifold doesn’t leak even in heavy rain

I own a topflip ultimate cover but not on a ranger raptor. Hindi nabubuksan yung tailgate unless buksan yung lock ni topflip then yeah close muna tailgate bago i-close yung topflip 😅

On a pro4x... You really need to open the cover bago mo masara yung tail gate. As added security, my tailgate cannot be opened if the top flip is locked. Mine is just the top flip jr. Tri fold and waterproof siya. Baka hindi masyadong sealed ang install sa inyo that's why water comes in. But mine has no channel cos its just the jr model. I suggest you spray some rust inhibitor sa keyhole to protect it. I used some amsoil mp (not the hd) on mine.

I use utemaster load lid with sailplane and destroyer rail. And yes, same problem. Have to unlock the lid, lift up to open the tail gate. But water proof on heavy rain 😅 plus can put 200kg on top of the lid

I got a topflip ultimate for our 2023 nissan Navara a few months ago. in our Navara, we can't open the tailgate without opening the topflip (I don't mind opening it every time kasi it also serves as an extra locking feature on the tailgate) which is better in my opinion para people can't just open the tailgate anytime. That is why I was shocked when your tailgate opened even if the topflip is closed. Also, even on hard rains, we don't accumulate water inside the truck bed (proven and tested so far). Rangers, raptors and Navara are different so maybe you can clarify this with Atoy Customs. P.s. I was like tito Peter when I first tried the topflip ultimate hahaha ( but when you get used to it, it is very easy and convenient to have it. nice vid!

I agree, i like this cover also. I have a topflip ultimate for my Hilux. Same thing.. i can't open the tailgate without opening/unlocking the Topflip first. Which provides protection for whatever is inside my truck bed.

The rubber on the bed cover seals the back so no need to open it prior to closing the tail gate

never ko pa naman na experience yung water leakage sa loob kahit sobrang lakas ng ulan using that topflip cover sa raptor ko din. ganyan ko din isara yung tailgate. di ko na inaangat yung cover. wala naman akong nagiging issue haha

Hi franz, have the sealants check also sometimes may manipis sila or namimiss out na parts. I'm using it with my 3.2 ranger for the first year kahit malakas ulan wala naman pumapasok. For me added security yung nalock yung cover with the door since walang automatic lock yung tailgate

I feel you bro, kaya hindi ako nag ganyang topflip cover. I got the Topflip junior. Simple tri fold and hindi natataas with the leg/hinges. But i can open/close the tailgate without unlocking it. Full waiter proof din as per experience. Also came from Ton by the way. Other tri floods kasi sips water Inside. HTH. Always love the vlog as your Tandem with your dad is funny. Im not sure din of the model you got but there another model topflip pro ultimate. Wala na yung lock sa cover. Utilizes the lock na on the rear latch/door. Then you can open close the rear door even if closed yung cover. Hth. Cheers!

I love the concept of the tonneau cover, especially since it all raises but there are too many bugs that doesn’t make it intuitive. It’d be cool if it could be a tonneau and a form of bed cap.

Got the TopUp Euro Cover instead of the TopFlip Ultimate because of these exact issues. Yes it is (Euro Cover) heavier and bulkier, but zero issues on water leaks even during heavy rains and having a carwash. Imagine, pressure washer na yun, but still zero leaks :) Btw, if you're someone going for the (Euro Cover), get the body color and thank me later if you're happy with it ;)

buti nalang tlga nag RS Trifold nalang ako. ung mismong tail gate ang ginagamit ko na lock niya, tas naka electronic tail gate lock narin so sa keyfob nalang din innunlock no need to bring extra keys. Tas pwede pa buksan at isaracang tail gate without opening first the cover

Btw, yun mga butas na square sa side ng truck bed , napalagyan mo ba ng black silicone? Kasi daanan din yun ng rain water papasok sa bed.

Great video! Love the folding step rails! That bed cover is nice ( not my type) lose the lock cover before it does itself. Still have to come up with something to fix that broken look on the wheels.

I've been contemplating between topflip and hammer roller lid. They have the same price, mas hassle lang topflip pero mukhang tatagal. Si hammer is very convenient but can have tendency to be broken kasi may mechanism. I'm surprised that you mentioned na pinasok ng tubig nung malakas ng ulan. That will be may major deciding factor pa naman. I guess hammer it is.
