The Craziest Halo Speedrun You've Never Heard Of

Hello fine people of the Frog Empire, I teamed up with the notorious SlothSG (i.e. I asked if I could use his footage) and made a video showing off his Hunter% World Record while explaining the run and some of the cool strats. It's a pretty cool run in my HUMBLE opinion.

It's less that it's well balanced and moreso that they're easy to one shot with the pistol or sniper rifle lol It didn't feel like that many hunters because between the Magnum or vehicles you basically always have a means to one shot them.

Hunters are my favorite species in Halo, and in contention for my favorite alien species in all of fiction, so this run makes me happy that there's an entire speedrunning category focused on them, and sad that you have to murder them all as quickly as possible.

You know, in all the years I’ve played CE (the OG), the remaster, gearbox port, and the CE MCC version. I remember all these hunters, but never knew just how many there was in the game! Bungie did a great job of talking their fights, so they didn’t get too repetitive.

Technically I think if you're fast enough, you can save the one that "spawns dead" in Keyes from the flood, and kill it yourself. If that's the spot I think it is (optional area off the second floor of the landing bay) I vaguely recall fighting two there.

Using free cam you can see that the hunter will die the same in game tick that he spawns in. Impossible to fight both of them there.

Halo CE is a weird one for me. Legendary itself isn’t the hardest but for speed running I think it’s the hardest. I have halo 2 and CE left for under 3 hours. Gave up on CE and almost on on 2.

Sometimes the first name that is coined at the time ends up being what sticks even if it isn't necessarily the one that's most technically correct. Also BOOL is a bit more PG of a short-hand than BOOB.

That's just hunters in CE. They die to a single shot from a precision weapon if you hit them in the orange, even on Legendary.

For whatever reason Hunters in CE had their orange flesh flagged as their head-shot area. Un-shielded enemies always die in one head-shot with a head-shot capable weapon (pistol and sniper rifle; none of the other weapons in CE are head-shot capable) regardless of how much HP they have. This was fixed from halo 2 onwards so they no longer have a head-shot area but to compensate their HP was cut in half so you can kill them more easily with other weapons.

@@connermckinnon5520 No problem! It really makes CE hunters a joke compared to the later games. I should warn you though that flood combat forms do not have a head-shot area in CE, unlike halo 2 and 3 they can't be head-shotted in CE. The pistol is still strong against them but don't worry about aiming for their embedded infection form "cores" to one-shot them like you would in halo 2 and 3.

Wasn't there a couple spawns at the grav lift going inside at keys? I swear there were late spawns... And the on two betrayals there's 2 hunters at the bottom of the drop where the wraith is, that he delayed the spawn of with the door trick, that weren't dealt with... is this on a different difficulty cause I always do legendary
