I just won a 4v5. One of our teammates left when we captured the 3rd point on Paraíso in 3 minutes 25 seconds, now we have to defend but we were too good and managed to defend all the points so well and they struggled to get the 1st, 2nd and 3rd point but just barely, they got it it overtime (Draw or Win). Then we had 3+ minutes to capture the point and after 1,30 minutes later we did (we won) , we basically played 9+ minutes without an extra teammate, I was expecting a huge rank progress but I ended up getting 18%"Expected"....

@@Pumpin77 in the interest of transparency the new ranked system tells you why you progressed as far as you did (or regressed) through the ranks each game. If you were “expected” to win a game, that is if the game overall ranks your team as better than the other, than winning doesn’t net you as much percentage. Conversely if you were expected to win and lost, it’s a reversal, meaning you lose even more than normal percentage.

the other day i queued up in a QP match as support to warm up. got new queen street, push map, so of course it's lucio time. my team and i kind of slay on the other team, but as we're pushing in, i hear, in the distance, a faint 'have some lucio-oh-ohs!' distracted, i die. but when i exit my spawn, i find him there, my fellow lucio. we greet each other, and then, for the rest of the match, we simply skate around the map, spamming our silly voice lines as we sit on the edge and admire the view (until my asshole DPS kill him, but i always go pick him up from spawn). as the match ended end and the GGs and EZs were being passed around, i typed in a simple 'LucioMafia'. sure enough, my fellow lucio did not disappoint, responding likewise with his own 'LucioMafia'. grap, if you're out there, thank you for bringing joy into the pits of overwatch. and thank you frogger, for leading the frogs. amen.

It’s a thing at every rank. If the matchmaker pairs you against a team that has slightly lower rank than you you’re expected to win. If it pairs you against a slightly higher team you get “uphill battle”. He was just unlucky that he received that many in a row. It’s completely normal for all ranked systems, OW2 is the only game that tells you when it’s happening, which I appreciate

To me, it logically follows that if you win many games in a row and you are expected to win all of those games you won, you should be ranked higher. Thus "expected" should give you more progress, not less. No? Like, if every game you're in you're expected to win, that means you're better than where you're currently ranked and being placed.
