As someone who was seriously considering and thinking of buying the 7A4 before the end of the year, this clip has stirred up a lot of things in my mind and making me reconsidering big time 🤔🤨🤔... I actually came from Canon (APS-C) before switching to Sony for my 1st full frame camera mainly because Sony was getting lots of positive reviews and also a plus factor (still) being the fact there are way more lens options for the Sony mount, hence you have more options for every budget. Now I'd still not go to Nikon mainly because I don't like the fact you have so little lens options unless you stick with Nikon obviously, but I like to have the choice between native and 3rd party lenses. Jared briefly mentioned a prossible 7A5 which could come out, or not, there's no info at all about that I believe. Still I keep in mind, it was somewhat an unfair comparison though one can say, it was obvious from the start the Sony would be thrashed by the other 2. If you don't have any of these 3 brands or are new to full-frame I get the outcome of the tests, but in my case, I should not have watched the video 🤣 ...

I ordered my first A7iv right when it launched and got one of the first in Europe. Bought a second one in June last year to have to same bodies when shooting concert. Had awesome 2 1/2 years and about 100k shots on my first body, right at the 100k mark the shutter died. My other cam is at about 70k shots. I think the A7iv is a great value, when you can get a good deal or even buy it used from a hobbyist with like 5k shots on it and have a solid camera for the next 5-10 years but for professional work it shows it’s age. 60FPS crop sucks when shooting wide angle, the readout speed is atrocious and shooting e-shutter isn’t an option at all (maybe when shooting landscape on a tripod to avoid shutter shock). The burst speed was bad compared to the R6 mark 1 which released more than a year earlier and it’s frustrating. Broad daylight compressed raw at 10fps is okay but as soon as it’s getting dark and you wanna recover the shadows I always go to the 6-7ish fps in lossless compressed raw. Compared to the R6(ii) I prefer the 33mp. I can easily crop from horizontal to vertical in post (pls don’t kill me Jared) and still have 13.5mp (3000x4500px is my default export resolution for clients). And OMG I love full size HDMI. I cannot believe how many of these awful micro HDMI cables got bent in my life and the full size is just awesome. Shame on canon for having it only in the R5ii. Yet the failure of a shutter at such a low shutter count and Sonys insanely bad customer support (spotted a dead pixel after 1 1/2 years of use and Sony refused to repair it, violating EU law) I‘m really tempted to switch to the canon R5ii

People love to talk and defend or promote what they spent their money on. In the end though on paper specs may seem significant but real world performance is extremely similar among these cameras. You can pretend Nikon has the best image quality of that Sony has terrible colors but if a decently skilled photographer took the same pictures with each and laid them out in front of even serious professionals few would accurately guess which camera captured what if the sample size were large enough to eliminate random guess success. Right this time, perhaps not a good idea to choose any of these 3 cameras. Rumours had it that Q1 2025 we'll be expecting new Sony A7V and Canon R6iii, if buyers can just hold on for 3-4 months, then we'll be looking at 3 models of cameras of the same price range, that comes out to the market within 6 months time frame. That, will be very challenging and even more interesting to see which is the best. If it's alright to point out also that these camera will be more or less similar to one and another, perhaps buyers will then look into other factors such as 3rd party lenses, ease of warranty claims, after sales service, camera accessories etc etc. Q1 2025, more new cameras coming in. Good explaination and sharing from Jared. Oh yes, is this episode filmed your new Canon R5 Mark 2 ?

Well to be honest, they don't need to reinvent the wheel.. slap a faster sensor, remove the 4k@60 crop, add that AI chip that no one needs, but everybody wants, and they are good to go. I shot A7IV for two years as a wedding videographer and honestly I would've kept it, if it wasn't for that nasty crop at 4k60.

Amzing video as always. Poor Sony lost so many checkmarks😭😄 As a Canon cultist (not radical lol), I'd say if I were upgrading from a quite old Canon camera, I'd really take Nikon Z6 into consideration. The specs are so enticing.😯 31:21 Jared's right and wrong at the same time, you gotta learn to you viewfinder, it's more stabilizing, when you shoot, but speaking of getting you composition right it's not that important to my mind. When I started my journey as a photographer my first camera was Canon 600D aka Rebel T3i, it had a flip screen, which really helped me when shooting dancing crowds in clubs and weddings from above with my height of 5' 7". Altough I'm not a frequent smartphone shooter I would have used the screens on my 600D and 6D more often if they were at least half as fast as my R6. And I see no difference in composition. Looking more professional is, I guess, depends on people around you🤔

When I purchased last spring the Z6III was not yet available. I compared the a7IV and the R6II. For me either one would have gotten the job done. I did like the fact that the Sony has better 3rd party support but I ended up going with the Canon because the ergonomics felt much better to me. The camera's abilities far exceed mine so if I make bad photos it is my fault and not the camera's. I went with the 24-105 F4 L lens which is a good start for general use but I am about to start looking at some faster glass. Not sure I will go with L glass as I am a hobbyist and not making money with my gear but it would be nice to have some faster glass.

Just the cost of R mount lenses and lack of third party lenses keeps me away from Canon. I use my Sony A7Iv mostly for portraits but have tried some air shows. I still prefer my OM-1 over the Sony most of the time. I can carry more, get more reach and so much lighter.

I changed my z6II for the r8 then the following month I changed to the r6II and I am happy to have changed, the Canon colors, the focus of the r8 and the r6II are unique, if Nikon had kept its colors it would not have changed but every time the The colors on the skin became very yellow, the recovery of the shadows is not good, the blacks are pasted, in Canon the colors, the focus, the RF and EF lenses are equally good, I'm sorry Nikon, you are no longer the same

Now scenes with movement will be better with new cameras. Landscape and portraits can still be done with film cameras. Will nat geo refuse a photo just because it was taken by a 5dmk2 or d850. Nope.

I recall seeing somewhere that in 2021, the 5DIII was the most commonly used camera by winning photography competition entries. For stills photography the newest cameras are not a massive improvement in the real world for most people. That is why I focus on video specs and prefer the S5IIX over these.

Did I miss it or wasn't there any mention about dynamic range? This is actually where the SONY outperforms the competitors by 1 stop, which is a lot. For me this figure is one of the most important, as every time you shoot outdoors on a sunny day You have to deal with pushing the highlights down and the shadows up. And missing 1 stop can mean burnt skies or more baked shadows. I own the A7 IV and wouldn't trade it for any of the two mentioned in the comparison. I shoot events, commercials, documentarie, etc. on it and I'm very happy with the results. Both stills and video are very detailed with great dynamic range. The S-log 3 gamma is great for grading and much better than what the competition offers in the other cameras. Colorists often suffer when they get Nikon footage for grading. I agree that the Sony A7 IV is not ment for sports - You can use it, but the competition will offer You better value there. But SONY has a different camera for this purpose = a9 III, which in the megapixel count and production date would be the best fit for this comparison.

That camera came out right around when the world shut down from the pandemic (early 2020) so we never reviewed it along with most people. @tubularificationedАй бұрын
The Z6 III's dynamic range is ever so slightly worse than your 8 years old D5600 APS-C DSLR, according to PhotonsToPhotos' lab measurements. Let's assume it being roughly the same. Also the sensor resolution is the same. If these two image quality parameters matter for your type of photography, then the Z6 III doesn't have an advantage over an 8 years old APS-C camera.

In very low light situation with the Z9, activate the starlight view mode in the custom settings menu d11 (firmware V5) It will help AF tracking a lot. Note that this will decrease the shooting frame rate though (the darker the scene the lower the frame rate). Also, the live histogram is not available in this mode. Eventually, the max aperture of your lens also has a big impact on low light AF performance. Consider f/1.2, f/1.4, f/1.8 prime lenses, or at minimum a f/2.8 zoom.
