The ancient city of Kutaisi is the second largest city in Georgia and the center of Imereti, a historical region in the west of the country. The history of Kutaisi has more than 3500 years. In the era of antiquity, the city was the capital of the legendary Colchis kingdom, it was here that the Argonauts went for the Golden Fleece. At all times Kutaisi has played an important role in the economic and political life of Georgia, now Kutaisi is the second largest city in the country. In 2012, the Parliament of Georgia was officially moved to Kutaisi and the city began to be called the parliamentary capital.
