From Bedroom to Tropical Oasis: Building a Saltwater Paludarium

I’ve put a lot of money, time and effort into building this saltwater paludarium. There are some exciting months ahead of us as we have to fill up this new tank with fish, corals, macro algae and lots of cool critters. If you have any suggestions, let me know! The tank has been running for well over a month now and it seems like everything is doing great! I can’t wait to share that update in a few weeks. 😊

I've never had a reef tank, but I've been a lurker in the hobby for 15 years. I've worked with freshwater fish a fair bit. This is probably the most spectacular home display I may have ever seen. For something that can be done in a home aquarium. This is truly incredible. Bravo!

I don't really enjoy saltwater tanks due to the fact that you can't keep plants in them and they usually always look kind of artifisial but what you created definetly changed my mind and this is truerly a masterpiece of a saltwater tank that combines best of both worlds imo (saltwater and freshwater) salute my friend such a beautiful tank.

I recommend you look into macroalgae tanks for more inspiration. It's the admittedly niche side of the hobby focussed on growing types of multicellular marine algae - seaweed in other words.

I think the idea and execution is lovely. It's a wonderful blend of the reefing and freshwater hobby. I also wish you luck on the long-term maintenance. Accessing the pumps, and properly trimming/trellising the plants may be an uphill battle. But, what a wonderful project to attempt. I hope you have a great time watching it grow-in and take shape. I suspect it will be very satisfying.

GREAT project. Absolutely unique. Amazing. I used to add live phytoplankton to feed the copepods and other microcreatures I added after cycling the tank.

I absolutely love the change in depth and the tidepool. Always liked lagoon tanks but have always stayed away because of the amount of evaporation

Beautiful! If it was up to me, I'd have a nice variety of fish, inverts and other creatures, but keep the numbers down. I've seen lots of tanks that look like the main goal was to see how many kinds of fish and other creatures they could keep in one tank, and it just ends up looking like a holding tank. Your setup is great, with all the different areas allowing for freedom of movements. It makes for very natural swim patterns and movements of the animals and fish. I'm looking forward to watching your progress.
