Very nice, great job. Dont worry about the mistakes, it’s how we learn.

Use packing tape on your cauls. The glue will not stick to them if you do.

I usually do, but because I was planing it down again anyway, I just skip using tape. I probably should every time to save my clamps but I am notoriously bad at taking my own advice.

Very well done! Wanted to share, for the circular jig, if you use a cheap Amazon microphone boom arm and a mic clip, you can clip it to your bench top and and run the power cable through it. Because it’s a boom stand it just stays in what ever position you leave it in and moves with you while giving you the height clearance. Also works well if you hook on a light so you can move the light at different angles above the bench without getting in the way. Mine cost $15 on Amazon, hopefully that can help in the future. All the best and keep it up!👍🏼

Hahaha, that is an excellent tip, thank you very much. I had been wrestling with that cord every turn. Figured somebody must have had a better way to deal with it. Cheers 🍻

You definitely don't need to worry about glue starvation on those joints. 😂

Haha, when I did this before and I was stingy with the glue on my first attempt, and had some voids. I was not making that mistake again.

That board is awesome, but I just can’t stand the thought of putting a hole in it for the circle cutting jig. Did you just fill it with some brown CA glue?

I didn’t show in the video but I actually took it back to flatten it again and took off an 1/8” or so, so I didn’t end up needing to fill the indent. I totally agree with you however, it would have driven me nuts if I had to fill it with CA glue.

Nicely done, although oak is generally not the best choice for cutting boards. With light use it should last a long time.

Agreed, this was definitely a one off project that was meant for show more than anything else. That’s also why I chose to do end grain, to give the white oak a fighting chance.
