I went back to Christianity because though I had all these spiritual experiences it was just like “okay.. now what, I can tap into these different plans of existence” & don’t get me wrong it was totally peaceful & it brung me joy when I first got the hang Of it, my cousin and I matter of factly did quiet a lot of spiritual things together with controlling the 5 elements as well as creating mental spaces where we’d project ourselves into them & other things however as the months went on it wasn’t anything special to me anymore . I mean I was still me , I just had a “higher mind” & with all this spiritual prowess nothing captivated me like when I matured & came to know Jesus Christ even now, Christ is so well to us it’s great knowing we can lean on and talk to God that is for all of us no matter where we are in life & just thinking about the rewards well receive while in heaven brings a greater joy , & established a peace within me stronger than any I’ve known before . Thank you. Her testimony was a blessing. I struggled with Buddhism faith also… when asked I’d tell people I’m Buddhist/Christian… then I stopped saying that cuz I realized that makes no sense. I threw out all my Buddhist things. Started reading my bible again and I am just praying to rebuild that relationship I had with God and Jesus in the past. And for it to grown tenfold now. I grew up thinking like her half buddhist n half Christian. Wow, powerful testimony! I was raised Catholic, but my parents were also open to other spiritual beliefs such as reincarnation, karma, etc. I always believed in God but never really opened myself up to Jesus, I didn't want to be one of those "bible thumping Christians." I guess I just had a negative perception of Christians. For years and years I struggled with depression, anxiety, feeling lost and empty. I was also into New Age and spent a stupid amount of money on tarot readings trying to find the answer to my problems. A lot of New Age beliefs are based on Buddhism, Hinduism and all other ancient religions of the world. Although there is a lot of wisdom to be gained from these teachings I still felt empty. It seems that in order to gain wisdom and enlightenment you must also be emotionless, like a robot. I came across some New Age teachings that taught you can't really help anybody who is suffering, or else you'll get dragged down with them, you can only help yourself. This did not seem right to me. These same teachings also mentioned Jesus and basically said that you don't want to be a martyr like him. Basically brushing off what he did like it was something foolish. This also did not seem right to me. Right then and there I gave up the new age stuff and decided to open myself up to Jesus. I became reacquainted with his life, his teachings, his message. The more I learn about him the more I am moved. His sacrifice was NOT foolish, it is EVERYTHING. It is the most noble thing in our entire universe, pure, unconditional love, redeeming grace, salvation. It is the thing that deep down we know we are missing but can't quite put our finger on what exactly it is. I guess I had to go through the darkness and be born again in order to really truly appreciate what Jesus did for us.

I consider myself a Buddhist, a lot of the ideas you have about our way of life is wrong. New age people don't know much about Buddhism nor Hinduism. They have a cursory understanding of it at best. Being emotionless certain will block you from enlightenment, I can guarantee that. Sure, having equanimity is important, you don't want to be flying off the handle in every stressful situation. But without unconditional love and compassion, enlightenment is 100% impossible. The entire basis of the dharma can be summed up in 1 word, bodhicitta which means heart-mind. The only reason we attain enlightenment is to help others do the same. Ksitigharba is an enlightened saint, a bodhisattva who vowed not to enter nirvana until all the hells have been empty, and there is no more suffering. Where as in a lot religions they teach we are not all one family. If some people go to hell, it's okay to abandon them. It's not so in Buddhism, our job is to emulate people like Jesus, and save everybody. The job of every Buddhist is to be a savior, similar to Jesus, the word Bodhisattva means wisdom savior. Christ (light of the world), is very similar if not identical to what we call the luminous mind, it's inside each and everyone of us. Everybody has the potential to be like Jesus, a savior of humanity. Meditation is a process of cultivating faith, which is a state of being in total and utter surrender to love. And as the bible says, God is love.

I'm on the opposite side of this where I grew up in a predominately Christian family, but then started studying the various other relgious, spiritual & philosophical paths. 15 years later I became a Mahayana Zen Buddhist, that follows the Plum Village Tradition & I genuinely feel at peace now. I honestly don't care what beliefs other people subscribe to, so long as it doesn't involve hatred or violence.. I think it's noble to walk any path that inspires you to be a wiser, kinder & more peaceful person. May all beings be free from suffering.

@@meyu2223 I was 13 when I read about Buddhism first the first time and it was like awakening a part of me that was always there. I was able to receive these teaching as if they were given to me from my deepest nature, but at the same time from a warm teacher. It was an instant affinity that was awakened at that moment. I continued studying Dharma, and searching for a Sangha... eventually found good Dharma friends with whom I shared the same affinity. Every sutra, every teaching from the patriarchs, I could see it reflected in reality. No need for external deities, for external creators, for a submission to an outer force. Just understanding the mind. I'm 31 now, I'm my affinity to Dharma just keeps growing. I have a deep vow to reach enlightenment, either in this life or the next... and to be able to liberate and guide all beings to discover their own nature. Namu Amitabul! 🙏🏼📿
